I don't know half enough about this to tell you 100% for sure, but I'd put money on the fact it's you being down on yourself and insecure. Get on your own team, start doing things becuase you enjoy them not becuase you think it will make you more attractive. If you are not happy it shows and people won't want to be around that. If you are happy with who you are, as you are, that will show also and people will want to be around that.
