I didn't mean to nitpick, it's just that you literally said "As I said, some feminists..." but you didn't actually say that? I get what you mean now though. And I think you and I agree for the most part on all this stuff. It's just that it gets kind of frustrating because I'd like to call myself a feminist because women have gender specific problems just like men do, but the word has basically turned to trash.

Feminists have been, especially recently, implying that feminism is about gender equality for men and women When you said it right here? But feminists want to label feminsim as the fight for gender equality across all fields And here? I'm not putting words in your mouth.

Emma Watson doesn't speak for all feminists though. You're taking the words of a few and applying it to the whole group.

I think there's a big misunderstanding here. When they say they want equality, I think they mean for the specific issues that face their sex. Somehow a lot of people have made the leap that their use of the word "equality" automatically means egalitarian.

Why?

I don't get why people say this every time a story like this comes up. Feminists fight for women's issues and MRAs fight for men's. Of course it's a terrible thing that she did, but it's not a feminist issue. It's like saying "Why aren't MRAs discussing this?" over an article about a female being raped.

Ahh ok. I was thinking you didn't want separation at all. Now I just look dumb, haha.

Hey, I was having a discussion about your comment elsewhere in this thread and I may have jumped to conclusions about what you mean. So I was wondering if you could clarify why they bother you, just so I can see your perspective.

Yeah I agree, I should have asked him to clarify before jumping to conclusions. And I also agree that I can get kind of defensive when it comes to women's issues, but.... I dunno, I think that's necessary here sometimes. I just want people to view things from different perspectives, and by doing so I can understand their perspective too. Edit: but I'm also shit at debate and just words in general so I tend to rub people the wrong way. I'll try to improve that though.

I truly am sorry that I sound condescending, I'm really not trying to be. Just trying to have a discussion. But let me clarity my point: Most of the discussion on Reddit about sexual assault is how men don't have resources to go to (and yes, that's a major problem that I 100% agree needs fixing). But... it just seems like people think if they have resources to go to, the problem is solved. But it's not.

But if they bother him, I don't think it's a huge leap to say he don't think they're necessary.

I've actually been on Reddit for a long time and I've seen my fair share of posts and comments from men's rights. And while I agree that I may have misinterpreted people's comments this time around, but I see this kind of shit all the time (not from everyone though, most comments and posts I agree with). I really just try to find common ground and help people see things from other perspectives. Just like people have their echo chambers that say men have all the privilege in the world, sometimes …

Sorry, but I don't understand what you're saying.

For sexual assault victims because apparently 1/5 women experience the most violating thing possible. You don't detect the sarcasm in that? And yeah that statistic is BS, but sexual assault is actually a really big problem that a lot of men don't seem to realize.

Yeah, I know that that rape statistic is BS. But what I was trying to comment on is the sarcasm I detected from the comment. Like... yeah, a majority of women won't actually be raped in their lifetime. But sexual assault and unwanted advances are a big problem that most people here don't seem to realize (I assume the centers are used for help with that too).

I totally 100% agree that men should have resources too. But I do have to say, I think it should be somewhat gender separated (of course they don't need two whole buildings though). Like, if I was raped by a guy, it would make me a lot more comfortable to talk with women rather than men (and yeah, I know women can rape other women, but that's way less common. Maybe have different counseling groups both gendered and non-gendered).

I'm sorry if I seemed condescending, I really didn't mean to. Edit: Ok, this has been bothering me. You told me to "[talk] to people here as if they are human beings who want to be your equal and not some enemy out to take your shit." I'm really not trying to do that. I just wan't people here to acknowledge that women't issues shouldn't be more insignificant than men's. I don't see how that's taking my shit out on other people. It's just so frustrating because people here always say that moderat…

Because I see comments here that seem to say that issues that women have aren't really issues. Like the comment I replied to said something sounding like women don't REALLY have issues with rape/sexual assault (I'm exaggerating a bit). And another one that was questioning why they need all women gyms. So that makes me come to the conclusion that they think we don't need the resources. Edit: but I 100% agree that the centers should either be for men and women, or men should have their own.

A lot of people here seem to think that women just don't have problems. Like there was a comment on this post saying women shouldn't have private gyms. But.... why do you think they need private gyms in the first place....

I think you guys need to remember that women have issues they have to deal with, just like men. When there's an article about a man being raped, there is an outcry from this and other subs. And yes, it fucking sucks how a lot of men have no resources to go to when something like that happens, and that's something our society should work on. But why would you want to take away women's resources? In my opinion, it's no different from crazy feminists trying to take resources away from men to "close…

In my opinion, it's probably because of the physical differences between men and women. Where I work, when talking about promotions and things, my boss straight up told me that it was impossible for me to reach a certain level because I'm physically incapable of doing some things. With STEM that isn't an issue.

Try not to refer to all women when talking about these things. I think that hurts more than it helps.

I totally agree with you. However, I think that feminism is such a broad term and you can't encompass the whole group into one ideology.
/r/MensRights02/12/16 07:05 PM

I said that more as a generalization about those who group all feminists together in a negative way.

So feminists hate men because they think they're all the same. Isn't it hypocritical to hate all feminists then? We're not all the same. I swear. And I'm really not trying to be rude or anything, it's just that I hate seeing comments like this. I agree with both men's and women's rights. And I think most people do. We're not all crazy tumblrinas.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
