Female organisms have better offsrpring if they tend to reproduce with a very fit (in the evolutionary sense) male. I'm no expert but it makes sense to me that women are more selective. Meanwhile a male organism uses most chances he can get to spread his DNA.

Okay, I've only been poked once in my facebook lifetime. Seems weird now that I think about it. But my Russian friend had some succes with it chatting up (Russian?) girls. When they respond, you know that they are interested. Sending a random friend request seems kind of weird, too.

"Don't compliment her on anything about her looks, ever." You don't want to be obviously hitting on her ("OMG I WANNA BANG YOU"), and if she looks good, she probably will get those compliments a lot. And since she was aggressive (asking you out, apparently dressing sexy) I had the impression that she is really into you (sex would not be unthinkable) and thus a statement on her looks would be acceptable.

If she mentions her boyfriend you could use phrases like "perfect relationship" to make her rethink their relationship for a moment. I bet some girls are quite unsatisfactory in their current relationship so she might start complaining of what he is doing wrong, what could be better, etc. Only defend her boyfriend, never attack him. It has to be her own decision.

It was very crowded and everyone seemed to be quite drunk. But the problem here was that most the more attractive girls were surrounded by other guys and that I still met friends. One even followed me while I was strolling around for a chance to approach someone. After a while I met two women, one was very cute and intelligent and her best friend, who did not look that good. Luckily, my drunk friend took care of her best friend while I had time to talk to her. The conversation was kind of choppy…
