As stupid and obvious as it sounds, practice in the mirror. The vast majority of the people you make eye contact with (yes, girls too) are going to naturally smile back unless they are in a bad mood. Source: I was once a hardcore introvert and in your same boat.

I will absolutely second Carlsbad. The average age of citizens is really young and tons of younger people with good bar scenes. It destroys anywhere in LA or OC (where I live).

Don't get sucked down the Netflix hole or feel sorry for yourself.. Do something productive instead! Regarding the gym budget check out /r/bodyweightfitness too.

This OP. As hard as that is to hear you have to work on yourself before you start worrying about sex and girls. It will make a world of a difference when you do get back out there. Work out, read, be social. Be positive too. None of this defeatist attitude!

Great report. That's really good that you identified your mistake and recovered after she left. Instead of letting it ruin the rest of your night you realized no girl should be that important (especially one you just met) and you salvaged it.

It's also good to approach right off the bat because even if you blank or merely just introduce yourself and then walk away it opens up the chance for rapport later. Basically, the initial approach establishes a connection and makes everything easier from there.

Well done on the quick thinking/reaction to her negative response. Practice makes perfect for these scenarios.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
