This! I make it a goal when I am out to never be the one who looks away first. Like OP stated, I always have a pleasant, non-hostile look, only breaking contact when others look away. If connected long enough I will crack a smirk and a nod to acknowledge them, but I refuse to break contact (with the exception of following as I/they pass). It's amazing how such a simple thing helps you maintain frame in an interaction when it really counts.

I realize your perception of her was 7 of 10, however, my approach would have been a neg followed by A&A something like; " you definitely seem more like the type I would be friends with, let's be BFF's and have slumber parties!" All said with a smirk and amused mastery. Que hamster overload.
