My argument is that their mere existence doesn't mean that men and women are suddenly on equal footing. Good point, I'd argue that woman are giving more of a chance to enter the field than men. O yeah. Back in the 80's this was totally true. For anyone my age, being a "Feminist" is just fucking normal. No one in my generation is sitting there thinking that woman deserve less rights than a man. No one in my generation is looking down on woman as inferior and belong in the kitchen. For me, actually. It's less that I suck at the job, and more that the job sucks. lol I don't do actual engineering work. I got stuck with maintaining budgets, watching schedules, and being the focal point between the "real" engineers and the customer. I'd love to be fucking up code. That'd be a blast.

I was aerospace, we had tops 10 female students in my entire career. One of them stands out in my mind, because she absolutely hated me and I really liked that. She didn't agree with how I ran a lab I was in charge of. Took every chance she could argue with me on a decision we had to make for the lab. It was fucking great. When I graduated she took over the entire operation. She did a much better job than I did.

A woman has every right, and has the choice, to enter the STEM field. There is no college out there telling them they can't sign up for it. In some cases, they would get their degree paid for PURELY because they're a woman. Instead of the 70k I had to drop to get my degree. The only barrier stopping a person from signing up for these degrees are the ones they put up.

I can see that. I had one girl in a club that I ran, she was the only woman in a group of about 40 people. She was singled out quite a bit, but she fucking rocked. She took over the entire operation when I left.
