I don't want my ex, but I'm finding I'm almost terrified of loving and being loved again. We had a serious yet playful talk about our goals for the relationship and a lot of other things. We seem to still be on the same page and I feel that knot loosen even more | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/04/26 08:16 PM
Them leaving is the best thing to ever happen to you 🙌Yes. My ex and I co-parent so much better and get along far better that way than we have in a long time. We just couldn't be married anymore, didn't want to be together. When she calmly asked for a divorce all I felt was relief. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/04/26 08:12 AM
I feel wrong for feeling relieved after it's overI think for me what I miss is having my girls around all the time. Sometimes it's tough to know that they're having fun somewhere else. However on the flip side I like that I can go out and date, I have time to do things for myself that are just for me. I can rediscover who I am as a man rather than just a husband and a dad. I got out and dated for a while and got it out of my system now I'm just enjoying my time to myself. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/01/26 03:09 AM
I feel wrong for feeling relieved after it's overI was speaking with my therapist because I do go to therapy for this in multiple other reasons and she said it's probably a situation where my ex realized we could have fixed it with some work and respect. I was already working on myself. I was willing to work on us. She just said it was two little too late but now she's seeing that I have really made these changes to be a better person. I still go and help her out at her place because she lives pretty close and I've learned how to navigate my o… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/01/26 03:07 AM
Annual “Here come the Holidays” ThreadI navigated it by being clear that Christmas at my house was Christmas at my house and Christmas at their moms with Christmas at their moms. At my house we decorated how we wanted. We have four Christmas trees. At her house the decorated how they wanted. It wasn't a competition or anything like that. I also went over there on Christmas Day to open presents because one of the most important things for me as a dad and surprisingly for my ex is that the kids have a unified family unit even though i… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/26 08:44 PM
When to you know??I genuinely realized it was over and our final argument. I realized that she wasn't even listening anymore. Not that she really listened to that often. I realized that anytime I pointed a finger to explain how I was hurting she'd point multiple fingers back at me to defend herself rather than listen. I think that's what I knew I was done I just wasn't sure how I was going to do it. When she handed me the divorce paperwork it was a relief rather than painful. It was like finally pulling the trigg… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/26 08:42 PM
It’s doneHow did you approach it with them? My ex and I sat down together with them. The opening was pretty much something like: "You know we both love you more than anything right? But sometimes moms and dads just don't get along. So your mom and I are going to get a divorce. But that doesn't mean we love you when you less. We're both still going to be your parents and love you no matter what. And we're going to work together to get along better so that you guys have both your parents in your life alway… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/26 08:35 PM
