Our country has some of the worst economic mobility in the first world. The biggest determining factor of how wealthy you are is how wealthy your parents were. And you don’t think generational wealth is an issue? How you can possibly makes statements like that and then call yourself a left wing person is just utterly baffling.

Wealth inequality causes those things far more than they cause it. Violence, crime, and drug usage are symptoms of the poverty caused by neoliberal austerity run amok. Addressing wealth inequality is the key to addressing most of the other ills that affect our society.

Perfect. That’s all I’m trying to say. By all means be chivalrous, but be honest that it’s because you don’t see them or treat them as equals. Have a good night

Adult humans are built to stand and walk for literally hours and miles a day. They can stand for a bus ride. Unless there’s a medical condition in which case that’s the issue. If gender is the issue for you, then by all means go for it, but that’s not because of any logical or biological reason. You just like to treat women better. And who are you to judge what another person’s reasons are? You’re strangers on a bus, you don’t exactly have each other’s medical histories readily available, you ha…

All things held equal, an adult woman can stand for a bus ride just as easily as a man. If there’s a confounding variable like an injury or medical situation of course that changes things, but then in that case it’s that variable that’s the issue and would be the case regardless of the person’s gender. You’re really defensive about the moral implications here, like it’s a contest over who’s the better person, or if you admit to any prejudice at all it makes you a worse person. It doesn’t. I’m no…

There is no mix of both. When you mix equality with inequality, you get inequality. If you believe that the right thing to do is for men and women to give up their seats equally to one another, then you believe in equality. If you believe the right thing to do is that men should give up their seats for women, then you don’t. That’s ok. I, too, give preferential treatment to women. I like being chivalrous. I hold doors for them and give them seats in ways I don’t for men. But that’s not equality.…

I think there are definitely people who drive it aggressively, but I think most people, albeit totally unconsciously, when it comes down to it would still be strongly prejudiced towards preserving female life over male life if they had to choose. That’s not to say people have some desire to kill men based on fitness. Just that we instinctually pick them when forced to sacrifice someone. I think that’s an instinct that comes far more from evolution than social construction
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/10/20 11:22 PM

The actual social construct is the narrative that anything bad about women is a social construct while everything bad about men is natural. Our evolution has programmed into us a desire to preserve the life first of children then of women, and last of men if there’s space for us. We all naturally prefer the lives and comfort of women. Women prefer women. Men prefer women. We put them on a pedestal by instinct and construct a narrative within which they’re always oppressed so that we’re always sl…

You’re contradicting yourself here. Chivalry is antithetical to equality. These are two contradictory things. Which one do you prefer: Equality, where men and women are treated exactly the same Chivalry, where it’s men’s jobs to treat women better

Lol what? You agree to allow someone to rape your own baby but it’s ok because you were obsessed with the rapist? You had a celebrity crush so you’re not responsible for your own choice to hand over a baby for rape and torture? What the actual fuck

If he does, his daughter will have no hope left to escape the situation. If he’s not around to fight for her, who will? I would want to kill them both too, but if I knew that doing so would send me straight to jail and therefore remove her one last chance to get out, I think I’d be able to hold back. At least I hope so. And I respect him for finding the courage to do so. Because if he gets his vengeance she’ll be stuck with them forever.

He responded to (aggressive) body shaming with (lighthearted but hurtful) body shaming. Should have completed the phrase in the original comment - I meant ‘came out of nowhere’ People are ok with a guy defending himself in response to a woman body shaming him first by shaming her back. They’re not remotely as ok with a guy just out and doing it to a woman in a situation where she hasn’t already just done it to him. (Notice how this is slightly different than physical violence, where even if a wo…

This. If a man came out with a body-shaming insult to a woman, like being fat or having small/uneven breasts, etc., he’d be vilified. Meanwhile women are generally allowed to body shame men all they want. Small penis, short, fat/man boobs, whatever. The pussy pass is implied but not directly stated. Which I feel is the case in a lot of pussy pass cases - don’t think we should only go with the ones that are explicitly declared a la Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy.

It sounds to me like you’re the kind of person to always try to keep an even keel in front of her even when you’re raging inside? And maybe keeps a lot of your inner thoughts/feelings to yourself so you can make sure to stay in ‘dad mode’ and keep things appropriate and teaching her the right lessons? That comes from a good place but sometimes that can come across detached, or like you don’t care either way. Nothing could get dad upset. I could be dead and he wouldn’t care. He’ll still just talk…

Your daughter’s 14? Give it time. Don’t give up hope. She still has a ton of growing up to do and kids, especially girls, are going through a roller coaster of emotions at that age. I know it’s hard to be patient, but my guess is by the time she’s 21 or so she’ll have a very different perspective. I know it’s way easier for me to say than for you to do. Try to take care of yourself in the meantime, be fully available to her if/when she wants to talk, and don’t let her turn into an ‘enemy’ in you…

To be fair, my father was a really shitty husband - philandering, out drinking and partying all night on a routine basis, physically abusive, etc. But unlike a lot of moms who try to protect their children from that stuff, my mom actively tried to make sure we knew every detail of their problems and personally witnessed all of their fights, so that we’d be on her side and believe he was a terrible person/she was the poor innocent victim. Then she would turn around and go into screaming/crying fi…

From what the other guy said about the parenting class it’s probably pretty often, but the kid is still going through a ton of unnecessary mental/emotional anguish in their formative years that will leave lasting scars. That shit is straight up child abuse.

So many women do that. Your dad and I have problems? I’m going to teach you he was evil, and I’m a good person, and if you’re on my side you’re a good person and if you love him at all you’re evil just like him. The mental and emotional games some of them play - and with little kids. 3, 5, 7 years old. It’s sick. Outright abuse. But they get the pussy pass for it and everyone just brushes it off. Glad your kid was able to grow up and see through it.

Just the fact that she thinks she would be the person to receive sympathy in this situation speaks to the immense amount of privilege they have. Plenty of men are cheating scumbags, none of them would go posting about their own getting caught cheating as if they’re the victim. Because they haven’t been coddled into believing so. This post demonstrates just how coddled women are by society.

Yeah the first thing she tries to do is put the ball back in his court/put the onus on him. ‘Why did you do this today?’ She also makes it out like she’s concerned for the girl - ‘she’s your daughter’ - but really she’s just using the girl as a prop for her argument that the onus is on him to not do this, otherwise he’s being a bad person. At no point is she actually considering ‘wow, I’ve deeply hurt and betrayed this person and he’s confronting me about it now - I owe him, and the little girl,…

I was once at the same party as my ex, got super fucked up and went and crashed in my friend’s bed. Woke up in the middle of my ex gf and I having sex. Didn’t really mind, I just kind of finished it and went back to sleep, but if I had felt violated? No one would have taken it seriously. If the genders had been reversed? She’d be considered a predator from then on out.

Also if a man acted this way, either online or god forbid IRL, he’d be seriously jeopardizing whatever level of respect/inclusion he got from the people around him. Doing so would actually harm his chances of people being willing to help him, or even be around him. They wouldn’t help him, they’d run away or remove him from their lives. Meanwhile a woman can go around doing shit like this demanding and asking for help from anyone and everyone she knows without shame and people will not only toler…

This is the type of ignorance that is commonplace in the regressive alt-right shithole of a society we have here in America. It’s what sucks about following this sub and r/pussypassdenied. There are level headed people like you who can see women’s privilege while still having a reasonable outlook on freedom, equality, public health and safety, etc. And then there are borderline fascist wingnuts like this guy who hate every group he’s not a part of and thinks this is a space for espousing that ha…

It can’t be an instinctive thing. There were a number of more ancient societies where small penises were considered more attractive.

I never said they were being truthful about their motives. OP said wars were fought ‘in the name of’ Lucifer because they are evil. I replied that that’s not what ‘in the name of’ means. It means who they tell you they’re doing it for. And they almost always tell you it’s in the name of God or country. Their real, underlying motives don’t change that. In reality it’s almost always about advancing the interests of the ruling class, like you said. Point being - Satan has nothing to do with it, and…

To do something “in the name of” means you announced that was the person you were doing it for. Even if Lucifer was actually real and not a ludicrous fantasy, him surreptitiously leading people to do such actions wouldn’t apply. Their acts were still never in his name. They were in the name of their god(s) or country or whatever else. They were never in the name of Lucifer.

This is why gender clearly doesn’t work the way any of the other ism’s work. We don’t choose to sacrifice white people by default. We don’t choose to sacrifice straight people, or cis people, or able bodied people by default. We do choose to sacrifice male lives by default. It’s a universal truth in human culture. If someone needs to die, it’s men first. And yet we still say women are oppressed? We openly value white and straight and cis and able bodied lives more than their counterparts. That’s…
