How long do you keep trying till you made the call? That's what I am thinking, unfortunately. When my younger is off to college at 18. But then - what if she developed an eating disorder or something like that. Oye.. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/04/26 01:59 PM
How long do you keep trying till you made the call?I'm right there with you man. My kids are 13&15 and they (and the financial beating) are the only 2 reasons I don't leave. I hope you will make the right decision for yourself. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/04/26 12:59 PM
How do you know when it's time? How old are your kids if I may ask? | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/26 03:41 PM
How do you know when it's time?Change the ages to 13 and 15, and I'm right there with you brother. The concerns for me line-up with yours: the sheer disruption it would cause in my kids' lives (they are doing well), and the finances- where the only thing my wife has done is marry into my family. I handle all of the investing, etc. Big inheritance came from my side...she just benefits and stands to get half - which is just criminal in my mind. My daughter hates when we fight, my teenage Son appears blase about it at this point… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/26 03:38 PM
Just found out my 38f wife is having an emotional affair….I do not want to be married to her. I would walk away if I could, but I don't want to disrupt the kids lives...and yes, they are doing well despite our occasional flare-ups. She also would make out like a bandit b/c of the inheritance from my side, and all of my work trying to get us in good investments, etc...She knows squat about finances and just spends money like a teenger. Then when it comes to college in a few years, she would try and "double-dip" ...and she's already got a wealthy father … | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/03/26 06:17 PM
Just found out my 38f wife is having an emotional affair….Terrible. And I really got into it with my wife last night. Some of it stemmed from the issue at hand, but a lot of it just stems from my existential frustration about having to be married to her. My poor Daughter - so sensitive, asked me later: "are you and Mom going to get a divorce?" I said no, but I feel so bad about arguing in front of her and my Son like that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/03/26 04:42 PM
This is a post from divorced women page… you can’t make this shit up. I will never marry againI think it's ok - because I expected her to say that she tried to gut the guy financially after her "period of discovery." | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/03/26 04:14 PM
Just found out my 38f wife is having an emotional affair….Well good luck to you man. Your kids are still young enough that they will adapt. I'm looking at this consideration with 13 and 15 yo's. Not the same situation, but oof... | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/26 03:30 PM
Just found out my 38f wife is having an emotional affair….Are you planning on divorcing her? This is a tough one, especially b/c of the kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/26 02:49 PM

Fundamentals: Marriage counseling does not workI once talked to a therapist who also did marriage counseling. I gave an overview of the issues in my marriage and told her it was getting hard to stay in it - even if it's for the kids, the finances, etc.. She said the first thing she asks a husband and wife in marraige counseling is: "Are you mostly in it, or mostly out?" My response was: mostly out. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/02/26 09:23 PM
Urgent Help Needed - Pls AdviceDO NOT marry her. Maybe file a preemptive report with the police if yout think your Ex (hopefully) is going to make any false claims against you. Get it doucmented now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/02/26 05:53 PM
anyone divorced due to lack of intimacykeep it 100% off the table Sorry does that mean you will do it discreetly annd not throw it in her face? | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/02/26 04:01 PM
Do opposing lawyers in a sense ever work together?I have been very up front that I am not tying to hurt or screw over my wife, just protect myself. This right here if I ever go through with it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/26 07:16 PM
Do opposing lawyers in a sense ever work together?Yeah, boy - that sure sounds better. I've read in some pots that you should only hire a "family law" attorney, but that certainly sounds more palatable. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/26 05:48 PM

Contemplating divorce: financial and logistical considerationsThanks, I have heard that before. If I move to do that, the divorce will be "on" at that point I have no o doubt. I'm not logistically prepared for it just yet. But as my brother also used to tell me, if you are putting something fair in place, and the wife is resentful and bitching about it, your response should be: "Oh well." | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/02/26 03:09 PM
Contemplating divorce: financial and logistical considerationsThank you for some of these points. It’s encouraging we are about the same age so you can relate to what I am contemplating. Re: a few points about how the wife could potentially flake out: I am certain that my wife is at least a very solid person. She is a great Mom “her dream,” and she would never ghost them, move away, etc. All her ties are here including my MIL and her Sister who live in town. She knows I am a very good Father and similarly I don’t see her making much of a ruckus in terms of… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/02/26 05:25 PM
Contemplating divorce: financial and logistical considerationsThank you for the detailed response. I suspect others have stayed away since I had a lengthy post and probably TMI :- Just trying to cover my bases. I did have 2 follow-ups: 1) Beyond my kids staying in their childhood home, do you see one of the parties as being advantaged if they retrain ownership of the house? I am just thinking that if I am the one to leave, rent in my area is at least 3K/month as I mentioned. So that’s 40k a year and almost 125k after 3 years…with nothing to show for it exc… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/02/26 02:15 PM
Contemplating divorce: financial and logistical considerationsThanks, but between the 3 of those (I'll count the stretch annuity too)...most of the initial deposits to fund them were the result of inheritance: about 490k from my Dad, and 370k from my Aunt (I took 30k off the top for my kids and we've funded a few projects at home). I have managed the Fidelity brokerage better than the one my FIL manages (which is why I am about to suggest liquidating that one and adding it to my Fidelity). That in and off itself would lead to major problems on wy wife's si… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/02/26 01:56 PM
