That figure that 50% of divorces end in marriage is a misleading statistic. In a given year there is 1 divorce for every 2 marriages. But that stat completely ignores the tens of thousands of marriages that already exist before a given year. It also doesn't account for people who have multiple marriages and divorces. In reality, less than 30% of all marriages end in divorce and the divorce rate has been shrinking since the 70s due to a number of factors.

That stat gets thrown around a lot but its an incredibly skewed statistic. Its calculated by taking(# of people married in a year/# of people divorced in a year) * 100. The problem is, most people don't get divorced in their first year of marriage. So you're measuring a small pool of newly weds versus a much larger pool of existing, ongoing marriages.

Not anime but still a cartoon: Rick and Morty. Morty is as insecure and BP as they come and he constantly can't get the attention of the girl of his dreams due to the presence of the alpha football player. Rick is a MGTOW (for the most part) and achieves insane scientific advancement. He sees the dating game charade and chooses to pursue his personal interests rather than romantic interests. Theres more to be said about it and the show isn't entirely RP but its better than most.

I strongly disagree. Even as little as one year is more than enough to establish new routines, social circles, habits, skills, lifestyles. Its a life altering decision. When you return home, your character is fundamentally changed by experiences.

I didn't ever say that this is true of all large charities. Of course there will always be exceptions. The head of the Salvation Army might specifically be passionate about that cause and volunteer for the lower pay. I don't know. If they ever switch leaders then we will know for sure.

Oh I completely agree, although from own perspective, marriage isn't something I think I'll consider until after I'm 30. I see that statistic pretty often here though and I'm hoping that more people start to see past this misconception.

Just to clear up a misconception, the stat that 50% of marriages end in divorce is taken out of context. What it's trying to say is that in a given year, the number of divorces is half the number of marriages. That statistic started in 1981 which saw 2.4m marriages and 1.2m divorces. However, they didn't take into account the existing 54m marriages in America.
