"Skilled Tradesman" here. This is good advice for OP or anyone. Working under a "Master" Tradesman would be a great start, whether that be plumbing, electrical, welding, carpentry, pipefitting, etc. I only have an associates degree and I am a maintenance worker for a large facility and I make more than quite a few of my friends/aquaintances who have white collar type jobs that required much more expensive educations.
