I’ll give you this, friendships are the form of relationship I trust the most, because (to me) they are the least transactional and conditional. Granted, I have unusually good friendships. Romantic relationships are very conditional and transactional, generally. They’re also wired to self-destruct if a level of trust or expectation is crossed. Even family relationships are less trustworthy than great friendships because there’s a level of obligation attached that muddies the incentives. That’s n…

It’s like one of these cliché sayings that you see as memes. “Choose your hard”. Single is hard. Relationships are hard. In my opinion, relationships are the preferable “hard”. At least there’s a theoretical chance of a lasting value, even if it’s difficult for me to believe. It works sometimes. There aren’t a lot of good outcomes with the long-term single life, but again, that depends on what you want. I think (and again, my opinion) if you happen to be a very self-centered and happy to be alon…

I’ve done it. I’ve been in several long-term monogamous relationships for many years. I’ve seen the birth, life and death of passion and love. I’m actually in a position where it’s hard to convince me that’s not inevitable. I very much understand the argument. And I’m somewhat nihilistic about lasting love, personally. However, being single for long stretches of time is not better. Single sex is a consolation prize, not the grand prize. Also, and this might be deviating from the point, but being…

I can’t speak for “most men”, but in my experience, sex in a loving and committed relationship is vastly superior to sex as a single person. Not only is it more frequent, it signifies and embodies true intimacy and connection (or should). That’s something of substance. Single/dating sex can be exciting and new, but it’s often frightening and shallow. Those are empty emotional calories to me. In my opinion, relationship sex is like eating healthy. Single sex is getting what you can on the go. Yes…

It’s a flaw when you assume they’re all attracted to the same specific things, which aren’t you.

I’m not trying to argue with you, man. Just control what you can control. Eat right, work out, be social, be friendly (but not a pushover), crack some jokes, take some dance classes, etc. Just take care of you. It’s all you can do.

The flaw in your view here is lumping all women into sharing the same narrow sliver of discernment in who they’re attracted to. There are lots of people. Lots of women, and lots of men. The variables are too vast to understand. Finding somebody you connect with isn’t about being somebody you aren’t. It’s about meeting people and being social. Most people aren’t attracted to most people. It’s rare, and that’s why mutual attraction is so exciting and fun. Don’t get fooled by pessimism and confirma…

How about another angle? In this one, the guy can have sex, but sees sexual encounters with women as false and a vector of manipulation. Having no faith in lasting romantic relationships due to total disenfranchisement by long repeating experience, he treats porn as a tool to clear his head and scratch that itch, aiming to avoid being lead around by his desires like a donkey following a carrot on a string. The easy response to this is avoidance, and I won’t argue that, other than to say it’s too…

Here’s why this is not workable. The person who decides to not be as “generous” with their sexual availability is de facto “in charge” of the relationship. If the other person wants sex, or even sexual release they need to appease the other, and that won’t work. What you’re laying out is basically sexual communism. If each person could be reliably trusted to not be manipulative, maybe this could work, but that’s not how people are.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/24 11:43 PM
1

So then, and correct me if I’m wrong, sexual gratification/release/pleasure in a monogamous relationship should exclusively happen when the two parters have mutually navigated and consented upon it happening together. Is that correct?

First of all, what the hell is Homie Head? Secondly, this is nuts and delusionally egotistical. Are you willing to be “free use” for each other, without hesitation or protest, day or night, regardless of the circumstances? Because if not, this is a doomed plan. And even if you are, that’s bound to be terrible at some point also. Just set some boundaries you both agree on and give each other a little space. I’d imagine that most straight women wouldn’t want to worry about the idea of other men being a temptation for their romantic partner as well as other women. That would be my main guess. Especially considering that it’s stereotypically easier and faster for gay male hookups to happen on a whim as compared to straight hookups. I think there are many other reasons a straight woman wouldn’t be interested in dating a bisexual man, but from a monogamous security/insecurity standpoint, I could see tha…

Jesus. Ok, here’s your argument against mine. I said, “40-60% of men reproduce vs 80-90% of women” You said, “that’s not true. Here’s a 2019 US census that says thats wrong.” According to that, In 2019, in the ages of 40-50 in the US, 40-60% of men reproducing isn’t accurate. That does not disprove my point. That’s a sliver of male breeding behavior. That percentage would need to be factored into the whole, at which point it would fall to a lower number because 40-60% of men reproduce, world-wid…

I've done more to try and work with and understand you than you have to work with and understand me. That's because I'm making a point that is relevant to the original post and your aim is to disagree with me. You aren't trying to do anything but view what I am saying as wrong, so there's no point in making rational arguments that require honest engagement because you're not here to do that. This is why speaking to you is a waste of time.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/24 07:39 PM

Where in your initial statement did you say the United States census in 2019 ages 40 to 50? This is hairsplitting, and you know it.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/24 06:16 PM

My initial statement was in reference to the world. You reworked it into the men of the 2019 census between the ages of 40-50. That’s the history of our non-conversation

My claim is obvious and easy to see, feel and understand. It’s apparent and true by the facts around you, as well as the historical record. You are the one insisting that things are a way they aren’t. And I’m fine letting you live that way.

You’re not having a good faith debate. This is pointless. I’ve made my case, I have confidence in it. You’ve made yours, I disagree, and that’s that. Nothing I can say or show you will change your iron clad conviction, so we’re just gonna need to call it. Wishing you all the best.

You gave one source you’ve clung to like the wreckage of a ship. It doesn’t apply to the actual debate I’m having with you. You are building a narrative. You have consistently diverted and convoluted what I’m asking you to address. World wide stats. The world. Not the men in the United States by the age of 50. I’m just talking about why it’s more tilted toward the satisfaction of women in the area of sex and dating. It’s a supply and demand thing. You’re trying to say that doesn’t matter, and it…

/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/24 03:25 PM
1

As a stubborn person myself, I can appreciate your debate tactic of, “I’m right, and that’s just how it is. no arguments will move me” but it’s not going to work here. First of all, 5% might as well be nothing. So you’re still suggesting that it’s 1 to 1, men to women, meaning there is essentially no disparity between men and women in their reproduction rates, and that’s not real. It simply isn’t true. Secondly, you’re choosing age 40-50 on a specific census of the United States. Not everyone fi…

I’m only interested in these statistics if you are willing to engage in the conversation I posed to you about what they suggest as it relates to women. If this is true, and I’m willing to go dig through this stuff you linked. How do you account for the idea that that would suggest (strongly) that women, in that same bracket of age and time, would have a significantly higher birth rate?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/24 11:39 AM

This is false
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/24 09:25 AM

I can’t understand why that’s impossible for you to fathom Most men are not worth having children with. I say that as a man.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/24 07:17 PM
1

40-60% is pretty squarely in the middle. It’s not a crazy stat. The point is that significantly less men reproduce as compared to women.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/24 06:05 PM
1

Another exaggeration, but one that does not address the current argument
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/24 05:58 PM

Then your census data is also irrelevant because it’s from the past. We are in time and what has led up to us now is relevant. Unless you’re saying that currently, as in the men and women who are alive now are the only ones we are counting. Could you please address what I asked you about the 70% of men relating to a higher percentage or women. Does that not show you the point I’m making here?

Ok, I’m referring to the humans in the world, first of all, and this is a very specific cherry picked piece of data that you chose to support a claim I can’t find anywhere else. 70% of men do not reproduce. That can’t be true by following this logic. I’d hope you would agree that more women reproduce than men. That seems fairly solid. So if the percentage of men who reproduce is 70% that implies that close to 100% of women do. Or even 80-90%. This math doesn’t work. I don’t think any reasonable …

80-90% of women reproduce. 40-60% of males reproduce. This is essentially why male sexlessness does not matter. It’s supply and demand. We can get all bogged down in whys and what-to-do’s but the numbers are just what they are.

These are all emotional and biased points that aren’t relatable to the average truth. This isn’t to diminish your suffering, but the bulk of what you’re saying is not applicable to the general experience of most people. We (men and women) built civilization together. Humanity is cooperative. Yes, humans are violent and aggressive, but civil society mitigates and minimizes that. The fact that we are able to write text to each other in the comforts of our living spaces and bicker about this, all that exists under the umbrella of that reality. I did not say that there’s power in psychology. It’s a factor that should be brought into account if you’re trying to draw everything into a power dispute. That’s different. The reason it’s seen as bad is because it goes against the silent agreement we’ve all made that says we don’t do that. In this shared reality, that’s tipping over the cart and that isn’t what people want or depend on as every day life. Leverages exist that keep the gears of this whole thing turning. Being able to pay for sex throws that out of whack, so we say it’s bad. That’s ultimately the reason. Working to making money is not driving the market, it’s playing into, and creating the market. It’s also a cooperative and mutually beneficial endeavor within a partnership, but i’ll reiterate what I said in another comment because it applies to you also. Youre playing a power game. I’ll say the same thing to you about that, “Guns” is a silly and narrow answer to what I’m saying. Yeah, it helps balance things. It’s the reason the biggest meanest UFC fighter isn’t in charge of things, but the spectrum of violence in this world is much more complex than all that. Watching each other’s backs/protection extends beyond physical violence. Men can defend women against men in ways that are more effective in business and social situations too. And women do this for men also. To be l…

Of course you think it sucks. It’s not what you want to believe, and you’re locked in. You’re very tilted toward thinking your belief about the nature of masculine and feminine as not only accurate but universally agreed upon, and it isn’t. Youre playing a power game. Well, I’d start with the personal preference of not wanting to be masculine, and enjoying the idea of embracing her femininity. It might not seem good to you, but a lot of women do enjoy that. And when I say a lot, I’d guess that percentage is a majority. So if you give any credit to that individual choice, that’s one. On top of that, the same benefit a masculine man has in his life when matched with a feminine woman, a rounding of their personalities and perspectives. When you have a healthy ba…

You want an example of men offering nothing in what sense? To women, or just in general? Also, you can go back to the 1950s to see women doing most of the purchasing for households if you want, but it’s not limited to that at all. How much do you think things have shifted to where only recently this is happening? Do you think there are suddenly enough #girlbosses to flip the structure of capitalism? This is just how it is and has been

Women have been driving the market for a lot longer than these perceived gender reversals. Men offering nothing is a bonkers stance. The “complaint” about women choosing single motherhood wouldn’t be a complaint if it were preferred. And I’d like to those stats. My guess is it’s a very small number of people actually choosing that path, relatively speaking
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/24 04:37 AM

The simplest way to apply it to your myopic lens of capitalism is that women drive the market. Women do most of the purchasing, individually and for families. This is in no way based in being masculine. If anything it stems from a variety of feminine instincts. Femininity being a supportive role, in your estimation, dictates where the money this leading role of masculinity “brings home”, which isn’t by any means universally true. Also, as an anecdotal take, I am a straight man. As a straight man…

Men and women, and in this context, let’s say feminine and masculine (which can apply to both) are not in competition, apart from within the individual perceptions of femininity and masculinity. If you want to be a masculine individual and see femininity as its opposite (which is your stance, but not a solid fact) then you’ll see it as a bad thing to be feminine, and vice versa, but that doesn’t extend beyond that. This is a series of false premises based on preconceived notions of what it means…

‘Woke” and “bluepill” (as well as their opposites) are concepts based in a degree of psychological understanding. Youre just cherry-picking what you like and don’t like. /r/PurplePillDebate18/04/24 02:11 PM

Your pain is your pain. However, comparing your concept of “alone” to the one described toward the most utterly alone of men is not equivalent. Being alone (in the sexual/companionship sense) due to a lack of desire or connection ≠ being alone due to having no actual options. This doesn’t mean you should be happy or whatever, you are just comparing different things and insisting they’re the same. They aren’t.

There are many ways of seeing human dynamics. This is a very jaded and angry perspective, and that’s honestly what this sub should be called (talking to both sides here, btw). The way you framed this is understandable, but so is the idea that it’s easier for men, in the position you’re talking about to be magnanimous because most women don’t pose a physical threat to them. It’s true that women can wreak mental havoc on men often and easily, but most men are a genuine potential threat to the life…

I don’t know much about the details of TRP concepts, but if it actually says that, that is incredibly revealing of the psychology. It suggests that they’re expecting unconditional love from a romantic partner, which is (in my opinion) only the kind of love you might get from a mother, and that speaks volumes about what is all goofed up with that thinking

I think a big part of the birth decline is the generations who raised the people of child having ages didn’t do a good job explaining or showing that being a parent and having kids is kind of what it’s all about. I think they dropped the ball on explaining/showing that having a family is important and valuable. That the idea of you being the center of your world and your source of purpose gets boring and meaningless, eventually, unless you’re a full blown sociopathic narcissist. They complained …

Women often emotionally and mentally mature faster than men. Due to this they (younger women) can frequently be disappointed and frustrated in the conversations and emotional connections with men their age. There are plenty of other reasons people can find each other attractive, but this is just one example to counter your “little to offer” stance. Pleasant company is valuable to a lot of people

The premise of this argument is bonkers. It’s written as though time could be frozen in your current moment and that there is nothing greater than superficial gratification at your present age, looks and status in life. Time moves on. People have families. Your friends will do this. Your contemporary family members will do this. As a person without a family you are more alone as you age, these are realities. As another person more succinctly worded it, then don’t have kids, but if you’re actuall…

Things change. People change. The best thing you can do is start something as honest as possible, but things will change regardless. Don’t cling to an idea of what things are supposed to be, try to roll together and do your best to avoid codependency. Read the Missing Piece Meets The Big O by Shel Silverstein. That should be required reading for an education in human relationships.

You’re overthinking all of this. You need to be more social and be willing to learn about individual women. Drop the know-it-all attitude and just experience people. That, combined with you clearly being an intelligent person, can attract a woman. But you’ve got to not think of them as in league with each other as some cohesive force which is plotting against you, or your “team”. All that shit is only kind of real as a feature of conversation here. When the rubber meets the road it’s all about c…

A lot of dating and relationships just work out the way they work out. I don’t know that I’ve ever met anybody who has said they have a target age that goes against some kind of ingrained sense of what feels appropriate to them and the other person

Things change. People change. If a healthy sex life is a priority to both people and the communication is strong and frequent, that’s the best chance of that aspect staying alive. Without work those things wither. Personally, I think a lot of relationships deteriorate because people don’t want to view them as ongoing practices they need to maintain, but rather some magical thing that is either effortlessly ideal or fundamentally flawed. This isn’t only a woman/wife thing by any means. Plenty of …

This feels like a wild thing to be confused about, first of all. I can only speak for myself, but the first thoughts that come to my mind are women patiently choose of the men that approach and try to have/be intimate with them. They often have their pick of many options, in contrast to most men, who attempt with many women and wait to be “allowed” by them. If I am with a woman in a relationship, I feel pride that she has picked me of the many men she could have chosen to be with. I did the same…

Avoid those people then. Or have fun with your Fight Club, I guess? I still say be the best you you can be. Obviously that is subjective, but I’ll also add that resentment is unattractive, as well as being a bottomless pit.

Women are not an organized unit. Neither are men. We’re all individuals trying to figure it out. The best thing you can do is to be the best person you can be and look for others doing the same. All of this is less personal than you’re making it.

The hypothetical would need to be biologically based to make sense. Meaning sperm become rare and eggs become abundant. If it happened suddenly there would be weird chaos, but if it had always been that way it would simply be the same dynamic we have now, only inverted, in my opinion. There might be some weirdness in the physical strength department. Maybe women would have evolved to be stronger than men over time to serve the same purposes. I think it would just reverse our concepts of what mas…

Again, I am very sorry that you’ve had such negative interactions with men. That is very unfortunate. and having heard your perspective on this, as a man, there is no circumstance that I would ever have sex with you. Even if you were begging me. I don’t care if you’re the most beautiful woman on the planet. I hope that gives you some sense of relief

Generally speaking, more people want to “spend time” with single women than with single men. So it would make sense that across the board there should be a curving toward loneliness (or aloneness without much choice in the matter) having a greater impact on men at large. Especially in the aftermath of a breakup when lowered confidence can be factored in.

People dismiss or celebrate the idea of sex robots based on their own need or lack there of for them. There are good and bad sides to everything. As for the people who enjoy and are successful at playing the game of sexual human interaction, sex robots are just a new variable in that. If you tend to be superficial and shallow about your sexual behavior, they will aid in that. The opposite is also possible. You can be even more selective about who and why you are with people with these new option…

I think what you’re saying is coming from a jaded place, but to play with your POV, I’ll say that if any of this is right i’d adjust it to this, “men don’t care about a woman’s achievements”. That might hold some stereotypical water. In the same sense that “women don’t care about a man’s personality or hobbies”, however they do care about a man’s achievements. This adjustment on my part is an effort to tighten up the judgmental, broad strokes of dealing with the shallowness of our attraction for…
