I'm really not very into it, but it's not a dealbreaker as long as we can talk things out. Yeah, I think I'd prefer if he just doesn't care. And I'm not into playing games with people.

I have...no close male friends, haha. I only really gained a group of friends that included some guys when I was in university (I'm still studying so that means the friendships are like 3 years old), and I only actually have one-on-one conversations with one dude, and that's because he's older than me so he's sort of a career mentor. So, I have male friends, but distant ones. Well, if you count my ex-boyfriend, then he was a male friend who became my boyfriend after 8 days of knowing each other,…

22F, not in a relationship but part of an exclusive dating situation, I drop by to having something to mindlessly scroll through and procrastinate on sleeping

Umm...yes, I've never slept with a woman (or had casual sex in general), but I pined for a straight girl for quite some time and have been attracted to women my whole life. Since realising I was bi, I also talked to both men and women in my dating life. It just happens that the person I had the most chemistry with was a trans guy. This definitely has nothing to do with his gender, and considering his specific situation, I really don't think the reasons you gave (in the above reply and earlier on…

I personally feel that even if a woman only dates and has long-term relationships with men, if she is romantically and/or sexually attracted to women or more than one gender in general, she can claim bisexuality. This is because I'm not focusing overly much on the fact that it is a minority orientation but rather that it accurately describes the woman's internal identity. The onus is then on women for whom romantic / sexual attraction to other women is kinda rare, or who only want to date and ha…

As a bi woman, while I recognise that OP's points are flawed, these women you talk about who are interested in sex with other women but not in long-term relationships with them are still bisexual (referring to your first comment). If they only want to be with men long-term, that just means they are either heteromantic or don't want to deal with homophobia. It isn't right of them to mislead anyone as to what they want out of a relationship, and I am sorry that you and others have experienced pain…

Hmm, I dunno about that. Regardless, I should probably note that I live in Asia so everyone is just shorter in general.

I probably shouldn't reply to this, but – I mean, I'm currently with a guy I met on Tinder who's shorter than me (and I'm not super tall or anything), and I also know I'm not the only person who swiped right on him. Neither of us look like models, either, we're just normal. Yes, women tend to prefer tall men, but since my life contradicted your statement I kinda felt obliged to say something here (plus, I've seen couples with the woman being taller in public).

I personally don't really understand this perspective. I mean, wanting to be in a LTR with someone is about more than looks and sex. You might not be as physically attractive or as good in bed as someone she previously dated...but you could have a much stronger emotional connection with her or share more values or hobbies with her. On the whole, she could very well love and want you more than the other guy. Just because your girlfriend has slept with someone more conventionally attractive or ski…

I started chatting with a friend about this post, and my takeaway is that if I'm gonna be a car, I want to be a Volkswagen Beetle. They're cute.

Ikr ^^; Guys calling their cars or ships women is cute, guys comparing IRL women to cars or ships ain't it. At least houses carry the connotations of being warm, comforting places.

Perhaps it's just the circles I run in, but I've never encountered the kind of women that people here describe. If you think this advice works, then go for it, but the takes this sub has just often don't line up with the reality I live in. (And some are pretty misogynistic).

Part of it is because I live in a somewhat conservative Southeast Asian country, but it's mostly because my friends and I are nerdy introverts. But yeah, my point is that you can't assume all women act like what you mentioned in your post. These people exist, but I'm sure that wherever you live, there are plenty of people who aren't like this. Maybe you guys just run in different circles. I mean, I also don't personally know any guys who (to my knowledge) have a lot of casual sex.

I don't do hookups, so...no. As of now, I can't see myself sleeping with anyone whom I'm not seriously dating. I also don't have any friends who have casual sex.

Honestly this sub just really confuses me because it really seems like an overgeneralisation of both men and women. I'm sure people are speaking from personal experience, and women like this exist, but that doesn't mean all women think that way. I've had crushes on a guy who was mildly jerkish and said I was dumb and a guy who was snarky and showed little interest in me, but also on a guy who drove me to the train station and helped me out with stuff and a guy who handed me tissue paper when I h…

I don't think there's a real goal of life. Life just is and we create goals for ourselves. Maybe you could say we owe a duty to nature or humankind or something to pass on our DNA (though I'd disagree because I think we all have the right to determine our own fate) but I don't really agree with the premise of the question. Let's just say my personal life goal became passing on my DNA, then. I'd probably donate my eggs or try to more actively search for a boyfriend. ...That's all.

Amy's Cool Girl speech is amazing. She's such a great villain, I really wanna see more female villains like her. But I personally think this, like the rest of her actions, is an extreme viewpoint that lacks some nuance. I mean, wouldn't most people's – male or female – ideal partner be someone who likes everything they do and doesn't complain (ie. genuinely shares the interest)? I do think that there is some truth in it. I mean, the Manic Pixie Dream Girl exists for a reason. I guess my experien…

Hmm, though I can't speak for the first half of that quote because I do believe men can fear more than just that in relationships (and women laughing at them isn't exactly as trivial as it seems), I can vouch for the second. Even if I live in one of the safest countries in the world. It's just that, being female, you hear so much about women being sexually assaulted, and all those horror stories about being killed by their tinder dates, and start to become wary. I also know there's no way I coul…

Taken out of context, maybe, my country is probably quite different from yours politically so I won't dispute that point. In context, though (I assume the book is Nineteen Eighty-Four), Winston is mistaken about a lot of things. He thinks Julia is out to get him, when she's actually not and is in love with him. So, I would venture to say that Winston doesn't have the best track record of being fair towards women.

NGL, while I have read quite a few books, none of my favourite quotes are about...romance or dating. But I guess my favourite quote does kinda relate to my current attitude towards my nonexistent love life: “[U]ntil the day when God will deign to reveal the future to man, all human wisdom is contained in these two words,—'Wait and hope. '” (Count of Monte Cristo) Not really looking right now, I'll just see what happens. And anyway, I don't think I'm super dateable at the moment, since idk wtf I'…

Well – I don't personally agree with your viewpoint, but as long as you're not a hypocrite about it and your wife is fine with it, I guess you do you.

If she were bisexual, and also into women, why would men be your competition and women not? I mean, I spend a lot of time on bisexual reddit because I'm bi myself, and some bisexual people actually start missing sex with other genders when they're in a monogamous relationship... Not that this makes us more likely to cheat, because this often can be solved / dealt with in some ways and thoughts don't equal actions. But yeah I don't get what you mean. Also, by the time you get into a committed rel…

Not really actively looking atm but I think there’s an important distinction to be made. If I were using a dating app (which I haven’t tried yet) I’d obviously put a bit more focus on looks. Whereas if I were thinking about the people around me, looks would play less of a part. I’ve actually had crushes that I’ve ignored because while the guy is cute, I know we’d never work out personality-wise. And the two people I’ve had the strongest feelings for weren’t drop dead gorgeous (nor am I though ha…

We hung around at a shopping mall and wandered the shops, pointing out random things and laughing. We bought cookies, sat down and then fought each other in online games. I was super happy. That was the best date I've been on!

Hey, OP, I've been lurking in this sub for a short while thanks to my friends informing me about it. I'm very much...on the "outside" of this community and was just kind of amazed by the stuff I was reading here. So, your post is really wholesome and I feel the same way (though I'm not so patient as to encourage people to PM me about their problems, haha!) Thanks for this ^^
