Dating is not "settling down." Nor is having kids after thirty, "popping out kids no later than 30." Most of the people I know who are currently married, met their SO in their late 20s or early 30s. I am the only person I know still married who got married before 25. Class wise, my wife and I are both high income nationally (above 85th percentile income for the Bay Area) and I don't think I would have gotten there without her. That is certainly an upside to this marriage. As well as numerous oth…

This is incorrect. Age at first marriage is around 28 in developed nations. Most people aren't having kids until after 30

Western Society was built because of the culture of monogamy where the bottom 80% of men made major contributions. These contributions were made in exchange for access to reproduction they wouldn’t normally have access to (due to socially enforced monogamy, religion, “patriarchy”) What? Women's mating strategies/preferences are not selected for advanced societies. They select for muscles, broad shoulders, height, jawline - traits that were advantageous in ancient times rife with tribal warfare. …

I can easily see a future where people are posting negative COVID results on their profiles and going about meeting new sex partners privately In two years there will be a vaccine and nobody will bother asking about "covid status" or whatever, just like we don't bother asking about hepatitis vaccine status or HPV vaccine status. There will always be a strong desire for in person socialization, whether it is a fancy Michelin star restaurant or the Walmart parking lot. Even with the rise of dating…

Fun with people who don't understand averages! Those are averages over everyone, young & old. I doubt sincerely that the waistlines of those still in the dating pool are anywhere near those figures.

More women would be dead or hospitalized because men cannot handle the truth. Take all my upvotes. The "men" (probably mostly teens) in TRP have paper thin skin, bloated egos, and ridiculous expectations of what they are owed.

It is indisputable that a large majority of women have a preference that the man in their lives earn at least as much as they do and, ideally, even more. That is not my understanding at all. My understanding is that data shows that men are more upset when women earn more than them than women are upset when men earn more with them. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0146167219883611 Abstract: Using Panel Study of Income Dynamics 2001-2015 dataset (6,035 households, 19,688 observations), thi…

Cause all the doctors, lawyers, successful engineers and judges I know ended up marrying women with similar incomes and degrees The doctors, lawyers, and engineers you know probably met their SO in the 6+ years of professional education they went through for their professional career. They are not going to meet waitresses and janitors while they are in professional training 70+ hrs per week. But they sure do regularly marry assistants and secretaries.

In the US, alimony is only awarded in a small fraction of divorces, about ten percent, and permanent alimony is incredibly rare. An inusual injustice is still an injustice. It is a reward for breakin up. The point of alimony is to pay a spouse for reduced income potential sacrificed to raise children or otherwise support the marriage (put the other spouse through school etc). While 29 percent of mom's in the US raise children without working, only ten percent of divorces result in alimony judgme…

Getting half of marital assets, alimony and, not as worse as the previous ones, child support depending on the case. In the US, alimony is only awarded in a small fraction of divorces, about ten percent, and permanent alimony is incredibly rare. Half of marital assets refers to half of assets acquired during the marriage. Considering that most jurisdictions are community property, that makes sense. A marriage is a a financial arrangement, even traditional ones. Child support is irrespective of m…

My uncle is a felon and his last relationship was with a relatively stable woman. Relatively.

I don't want to get married because the institution creates a perverse incentive structure that rewards the action of breaking up the relationship and allows the spouses to leave. Which part of divorce rewards breakups? The value should be equal to half of everything I own and half of everything I will ever make since that is the risk I would be taking. I married a woman with roughly my same income. Her income was higher at the time we married, and most of the marriage, but lower currently. I do…

Famous saying that my nearly 40 year old ass has never heard despite living in four different regions in my life and doing quite well for myself.

I’ve noticed that a lot of men will go for girls and GENUINELY believe they can get girls while looking, quite literally, any kind of way. I’ve seen dudes with greasy obviously unwashed hair and stained clothes hit on cute put-together girls and then get bitter when they’re rejected. I’ve seen dudes who look (and smell) like they JUST rolled out of bed beg girls to “just give them a chance.” I know we’ve all seen the most unremarkable, terrible photo-taking dudes spamming girl’s Instagram pictur…

You are describing an inverse of yourself. You are not in a committed relationship and don't have consistent sex. You're assuming that everyone else is just the inverse which is wrong.

It’s shocking because when Chad is not available men expect women to still be at least somewhat attracted to an average guy, just like when Stacey isn’t available to men, men become sexually attracted to plain Becky a broad sweeping generalization that exists only in TRP stereotypes and doesn't reflect reality. Those men are used to meeting women are very unenthusiastic about fucking them and they think it applies to all men. Slow clap

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
