I actually read up when you pushed me on it, and I agree with you regarding the circumcision part. But as a woman with ADHD, not only does research prove it, but I am on my period right now, and my meds do not affect me. IDC if you doubt it; multiple of my specialists and the minimal research that is done for women with ADHD proves it.

I am saying circumcision cannot be compared to FGM, not that I am pro-circumcision. It normally works effectively 2/4 or 3/4 weeks of a month for women. This is because of how their hormones change throughout each monthly cycle. This is something that was not taken into account because most did not care to study women. That is such a dumb line of thought, though. Because it is one of the only effective treatments offered? Because many people with adhd need them to function or maintain their ment…

While it may seem intuitive to assume that being a woman with autism would make life easier, research strongly suggests the opposite. Women on the autism spectrum are often underdiagnosed, misdiagnosed, or diagnosed later in life due to gender bias in both medical research and social expectations (Lai et al. 2015; Gould and Ashton-Smith 2011). Because early autism research focused primarily on boys, diagnostic criteria were built around male presentations of autism—such as overt social withdrawa…

Thank you! You should dive deep into topics in the Sociology subreddit. I am a sociologist, and if you do not go to university or study sociology, that is a way to get a better grasp on some of these issues and discussions.

If I smile at a man (who is another human being), they think I want to have sex with them. If I listen to them speak for too long, they think I am interested. When we give them the basic treatment all human beings should be afforded, they all of a sudden think it is permission to start sexually harassing us. Then, when we say, "Please leave me alone," they start threatening violence, criticizing us, or trying to damage our reputation. (Not all men, btw; it is just easier for grammar to write tha…

Yeah, totally definitely, and that is why men are killing their wives, girlfriends, and daughters. Why do random men rape innocent women, kill innocent women, groom young girls, and try to deny them basic human rights? It is totally because women are the ones who only care about the men they love. Please be so real rn. Please, for a second, snap into reality. Women do not care about men? Is that seriously the conclusion you have made with all the knowledge that you have access to? Get off of soc…

- Officers also do not take women seriously. (We need reform of the justice system.) (97% of all rapes go unconvicted, and those are the ones reported. Women also are not getting justice and often have their lives completely ruined. Yes, men experience this too, but nowhere near the rate women do. -Women attempt suicide more than men. Men just use or have access to more violent means (guns). - Women are also shamed and ridiculed for being assaulted. (Why were you wearing that?) (Congrats, somebo…

Yes, some people make fun of the disabled and actively make their lives harder—but more people save them from natural disasters? Do you realize how absurd that line of thought is? Thank you for pointing out two facts: yes, people do protect each other from certain dangers, and yes, men dominate first response roles, so often men are the ones doing the saving. But that does not erase the reality that there is a group in our society being systematically targeted for violence, and the evidence sugg…

Here it is—a man who hates women! If your ability to see another person as fully human depends on whether they agree with you, praise you, or express gratitude for the “good men” who don’t hurt them, then you never believed they were human beings in the first place. And before you rush to say, “I think women are human beings,” understand this: if you withhold empathy, respect, or support unless they meet your conditions, then you do not see them as human. If a woman saying, “No man has ever save…

If the only thing stopping a man from raping, abusing, hating, or denying women basic human rights is every woman needing to act perfectly, kindly, or rationally, then he never respected women in the first place. He never saw them as human beings — only as conditions for his morality. If a handful of women expressing anger online — whether they’re venting, joking, rage-baiting, or even bots — can be used to “justify” a man’s violence or hatred, then he wasn’t corrupted by misandry; he was waitin…

No, we just shame them and call them crazy cat ladies, unlovable, crazy bitches, dried up, past their prime, washed up, spinsters, etc. Do people seriously forget that women also face shame?????? I agree with some of your points. Women probably do not feel loneliness like men do because their female friendships can substitute. That is why we need to advocate for men's mental health and encourage them to be more expressive amongst their group of friends.

Which is a part of history. The propaganda in fascist regimes is used to explain why a population can fall under its control. That is a part of historical explanations. This should be too. The part of history he was either ignorantly or purposefully trying to erase from the narrative he was pushing. It is a misunderstanding of history if you make a conclusion without key components of the historical era. It's either a misunderstanding or a purposeful erasure.

Do you not think this is something people who genuinely fight for the equal rights and treatment of everyone agree with? I totally agree with you that people take the ideology of feminism and run with it to meet their own goals. But that is exactly what an ideology is. That does not mean it cannot be practiced effectively either. Criticism allows for it to be used effectively in praxis. I do not think feminism should just not be real because then that will just set the people it represents back.

Yes, they do, but disproportionately women carry it more, which is why it is a gender issue. Men suffer! I have never once denied that and have actually been a major activist for men's mental health and for leaving no child behind. But women disproportionately carry the emotional load in relationships, which is why I brought it up. Things like mental health support/access for men would help make that a non-gendered issue.

I am not saying they are better. I am saying that they are equal in what they can contribute to the workforce. I never once said they are better than men; I am recognizing that both are equal. Men outperform women in areas as well, which is like a no-brainer. AND HAS BEEN SOMETHING THROWN AT WOMEN FOR CENTURIES. We are extremely aware that men are great and powerful (omg). The problem that needs solving is that people need equitable access, because when it happens, things like policy, healthcare…

10000%; however, I feel like the men in this chat are much more capable and informed on speaking for their side and experiences than I am. I am just trying to add some nuance to some of the assumptions made about women. Because I feel that some of this discussion is not based in daily reality (the women you walk past on the sidewalk) but instead the interactions had with women, grifters, and bots on social media.

Also completely aware that our discussion is getting off track from your main argument that women are being pickier because they can afford to choose. But I still think our discussion holds true to that while covering other important topics. It is not that women can be pickier; it is that they want to be, and they do not mind if the alternative is being single for a while.

Violence: Yes—violence may feel unlikely for you because you’re a man and not systemically targeted for your gender. Thank you for pointing out the obvious: not all men are murderers. I was really stumped over that. I completely agree that intimate partner violence affects both men and women, and we do need more resources for male survivors—full stop. But women should also feel valid and supported in being cautious around men they don’t know. I’m not trembling around my dad, classmates, professo…

Evidence of liberal population control: I am aware that it occurs, which is why I said your conspiracy is unfounded. I would argue that there are other ways the government achieves this, such as making it harder to afford children, homes, or even necessities like food. To clarify: My example of Black people being barred from voting even after laws were passed was meant to demonstrate how social and cultural factors can inhibit mobility. (Yes—poll taxes and literacy tests were part of that; thank…

A lot of these so-called “facts” are either misleading, outdated, or completely taken out of context to push an agenda. Let’s actually look at the evidence. A lot of your statements are not rooted in researched facts and are instead parroted or based on your own perception of an experience. Like men being graded more harshly. Education and ADHD: The claim that boys are “overdiagnosed” with ADHD isn’t proof of anti-male bias — it’s a reflection of how poorly girls were studied. Until the 2000s, A…

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying here. This is a critical point. Especially about how the “closeted gay misogynist” trope ends up hurting gay and bi men more than it challenges misogyny. It’s lazy, reductive, and homophobic, even when it comes from supposedly progressive spaces. That said, I don’t think it’s accurate to say that women “can’t fathom the idea of men hating them.” Most women are very aware that some men hate or resent them; that’s a reality they face daily, both online and …

I completely agree that everyone deserves to live free from fear, regardless of gender. Full stop. But I think her post was referring to the long history of women specifically losing their rights and autonomy during times of conflict, and it being seen as perfectly ok or just brushed off. Throughout history, war has always magnified gendered violence. For example, during World War II, both the U.S. and Canada were publicly against sexual violence at home, yet as soon as soldiers went abroad, hor…

I think the “facts” being used here to argue that women have had full autonomy for decades are a bit misleading and leave out some crucial context. Legal rights don’t automatically translate to real freedom or equality. Factors such as social control, public belief systems, and gender norms also shape autonomy, just as law does. For most (if not all) of history, those forces have heavily restricted women. Sure, women technically could access credit before the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974…

I don’t think women have had full autonomy for the past 45 years (especially in terms of relationships). While women (may!) have gained legal and economic autonomy decades ago, that doesn’t mean they were fully free. They were still socialized to be passive, subservient, and maternal. Women from 40 years ago were taught to see themselves as partners or companions to men, while men were encouraged to see themselves as individuals. That still happens, but more and more women are rejecting it becau…
