Yes, we're malleable. But, there's a reason that people feel like they're betraying themselves when they're acting to be something they doesn't jive with them. That's an indication that we can at the very least lie to ourselves about how we interact with the world. Authentic self is not a singular point. It's every changing and malleable raw expression of self, and when you don't align with it, everyone feels it deep down.

This is okay with getting dates or something but not for a long-term relationship. All the charm naturally wears off over time, and she can see through all the acting as a result m Do you really want to act your whole life, or be your authentic self and be loved for this? Men enjoy dating women that act like women, not like men. In today's age, women are encouraged to be more and more like men, and it's just turning men off. Now, they're looking for women from traditional backgrounds that still respect the age old dynamics between men/women.

That's not how work works.

It doesn't seem totally comparable but still good to look at. The first example is about boosting one's reputation (paying for a woman's date) while the other is about defending one's reputation (having sex with a man on the first day date causes the worry for the woman that she's a "slut" or "desperate"). "I don't usually pay for women's date" -> I like you enough to pay for your time/meal. I'm trying to show you my value as an interested gentleman that I can take care and respect you. "I usual…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
