Mate, all i can say is: yes. The nasty side of them comes out in this process. The way I think about it is that there are loads of awful people in the world. More than you realise. You got one of them. Like a scam email. You clicked. Many of us did and now we try to move on from it. Not that unusual brother. Best of luck.

Thanks, but even with the ongoing bullshit, I'm happier than ever. And I'm a better dad for some reason.

Thanks for your response. That makes sense. I just took her to court for contact with the kids and she caved in people to the court date but I still felt I had to press ahead and get a court order to ensure I was protected going forward. A lot of the costs are up front (lawyer, barrister, court fees) so it feels like once I go down that route, I'm all in. Again.

Can't stop paying the mortgage mate. That's the main asset. And yeah, you're right, it's a tactic. She's the only one winning with every delay.

Yeah, got that but looking for advice about keeping things out of court.

Appreciate your comment brother. I still have to pay to set the court date and the lead time for financial matters is much shorter (weeks rather than months) so I want to be as efficient as possible.

Mutual decision after a couple of years of bad times. She's since become an absolute monster. Hard to believe the accusations I face regularly. In court she actually said that I had "hacked the wifi and her devices". Add that to the other domestic abuse claims...

Yes, thanks for the response. I hope that is the case.

Yeah, I am pretty sure it's that but I can't work out her angle precisely. She's redecorating the house and garden bit says she is ready to sell. I had to go to court to get the childcare in black and white but it was expensive so I'm trying to avoid that and my solicitor says that we should avoid court again. To save money I try to be as prepared as I can before every meeting so I've not yet spoken to the solicitor about the next steps.

Yeah, but my kids are there.

If it's not in a court order then it's not enforceable. Unfortunately I know this routine and you're probably just trying to keep her from kicking off and making problems. I did this for three years before I took her to court to stop the bullshit. It's better but they don't change.

Yes, good advice. It can make simple things complicated, but your understanding will help you guide things.

Yeah, I gave it a few years, but she wouldn't accept even half of the responsibility in our time with the kids. We also had no relationship with ourselves, so my decision point was when I thought that I could put up with the relationship as long as I had affairs. That thought alone confirmed to me that it was over. Life has been so much better since we split. I'm a better dad, the kids are great, I have hobbies again, I have a social life. The divorce is ongoing (three years) and stressful, but …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
