FILE FIRST! Record her outbursts! Record her swearing in front of your daughter (not in an obvious way of course). Don’t move out of the home. 50/50 should be the minimum you get with someone like that

plan is to go back to court for more time. Don’t wait, act now. Document anything you can that would help.

I don’t see why not. His name isn’t on the deed, so how could be he taxed for ownership? The only big issue is if she stops paying for the house.

An exchange of assets during a divorce is not a taxable event (cash for equity). You’ll have to do a quit claim deed to remove your name from the property ownership, but you’ll still be on the mortgage. This is what I did… I have mixed feelings about it, but I didn’t want to force my kids to move. Could affect your ability to purchase a home in the future fyi.

Well, I can’t really be inside his head, but if I said that it’d honest and I’d mean it

Talk to him. And from my own experience, if he tells you how he feels don’t be dismissive of it.

When people get hurt, whether physically or emotionally, they rarely jump straight back into the activity or situation head-first that hurt them. And when they finally do, it’s likely with caution.

Literally in the same boat. She tried to withhold my time and I should’ve let her but I didn’t back down. Would’ve had an even deeper hole had I let her.

Let her dig herself a hole. Document, go back to court.

It sucks. That realization is kind of crushing. The process will be one of the worst things you’ll ever go through, but I would do it again.

I’ve got one good friend who’s my sounding board. He’s in the same situation I was but he’ll never be the one to pull the plug. Other than that it’s a bit lonely, but better than the alternative.

Same experience for me. Her house is now FILTHY, and if she does manage to cook something outside of getting fast food, it’s box Mac and cheese or Hamburger Helper. Laundry doesn’t get folded, my kids drawers are empty half the time when I’m looking to grab PJs after I give them both a bath if I’m at her house. If they’re staying at my place for the weekend I still cook, still wash and fold a couple loads of laundry, but I don’t mind it a bit. Take a lot of pride in cooking good meals for them a…

I did. Someone has to do those things if the other person never takes the initiative

37, I was the one who filed. I cooked, cleaned, laundry, mopped, stayed up late to pack my son’s meals for the next day, whatever. Now I had my hobbies and was selfish with that time, but I came to the conclusion that I could do all of that without someone constantly upset with me. I made the mistake of moving on before the marriage was over though. I couldn’t bring up issues I had with the relationship. Any time I did it turned into a big fight and I was made to feel bad, wrong, or responsible.…

Sounds pretty similar to me. 1k a month and she is spiteful and difficult. Almost certain I will never find the companionship I want. But, I have autonomy in what I do with my kids, and have more quality time now than I ever did before. I have time to prioritize myself instead of doing everything for someone who appreciated none of it. Life’s hard yeah, but I appreciate it more. You’ll get there, doesn’t happen overnight and not all of the steps you take are forward.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
