You’re good, I’m just curious to hear peoples’ thoughts. It does seem like a good principle and I like your write up.

Just curious, what other laws in Numbers should we follow vs not follow? I’m opening up this can of worms.

Hey, great question but you might want to post your stats. The mods here apparently care more about posting stats than a sleepy subreddit so they will delete it.

You don’t compliment her at all? Is zero complimenting an RP thing I missed? Please guys explain. That seems excessive. At some point you can’t hide your depravity. Regardless, living with her? Come on dude. You aren’t Jesus and she isn’t either. You need to do some serious repenting and reevaluating to go forward in a healthy way.

I re-read my original comment and see more clearly why you replied the way you did. I was lamenting that “My heart desires two things, and ultimately it feels like I have to choose between one or the other in a sense.” It’s not a lose-lose, everything is gain in Christ, but that is what it feels like at times.

I hear what you’re saying, and have thought it before too. The point that a lot of guys turn it into “now this is the new formula that gets me sex”, is on point. However, the rest frankly I think is a little self deceptive. I don’t think our motivation/“who we’re doing it for” has really changed that much. It may not be solely focused on sex in a self centered way, that’s true. We may experience maturation of our underlying desires and become truly motivated by a desire for a Godly family and Go…

Honest question for you guys, does chasing women like this take your heart away from God? Cause when I do it sure feels like it does. Honestly, I don’t know what to do. It’s bewildering. It’s like you can chase God or women can’t do both because finding a godly woman is so difficult, but at the same time chasing God won’t necessarily get you one. It’s like a lose lose. I suppose the truth is salvation is far superior to women.

Not saying for you to cut anything off, neither is Jesus necessarily, it’s to illustrate the seriousness of sin and how important it is to take drastic action to cut SIN out of your life.

Is she a believer? Are you both being convicted of this at the same time? If not, and you are sure you shouldn’t marry her, then it’s time to get serious about just your own sin. It’s what you can do something about. That’s what ultimately helped me move on through sexual sin. “You have heard that it was said, Do not commit adultery. But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and …

Great point, and you’re right. Seriously thank you for that. God does punish and chastise those he loves, it’s to bring us to repentance. Is this deliberately God causing the baby’s death to punish them? It’s possible but we don’t know. We don’t have a Nathan to tell us “the Lord says”. But it is good to let something like this humble us as if that were true anyway. That’s the weight of the situation and the full weight of sin definitely would necessitate even more if God let us taste even a dri…

Punishment? No. God does not punish his children in the way you’re thinking. Is it something that God allows to happen in this fallen world? Yes. Is this a consequence of sex outside of wedlock? No it’s a consequence (result) of sex period. The fact that you feel punished is because you are effectively married to this woman and shared the most intimate physical thing with her including creating a child with her. The Lord is a God of mercy and love and wishes for us all to return to him. If you o…

You’re also in the most difficult time in a man’s life for fighting to stay sexually pure etc. Take heart brother. At least for me, it did get a little easier once I got into my 30s. (Much less 1000 mph go go go all the time/raging unable to even think straight.) But more than that, the most important thing that helped me was learning to increase affection for God by meditating on his word and wrestling with him like you are here. From that you’ll get greater happiness/joy/pleasure in him and it…

Of course we have those thoughts too brother. Dude, I implore you to read 1 Cor 15 immediately. It talks exactly about this. If it’s not real and Christ is not raised then we of all people are the most to be pitied because this is all that there is to life and we’re denying so much apparently. But if this is all there is to life, pain and pleasure don’t make sense, and neither does any tinge of morality. Existence doesn’t make sense without God. God gives order and meaning to all things because …

Can you point to where you think it says they did? And how do you define fornication?

Sounds like two things you are asking there, one about general text variance and one specifically about polygamy. What are you really looking for? First of all, if you really want to study apparent changes in the text or variances by only reading English translations, you’re not going to find anything substantive. Virtually all scholarly modern translations are based off the same sources and agree when you give them a decently deep look. But if your motivation is really more specifically in rega…
