Great post. Couldn’t agree more.

Good post. I’m a minority not considered attractive in OLD, and I do okay by having my shit together as well. It’s interesting the points you made about racism. Seems you’re turning a negative into a positive. I definitely think there’s something to the taboo aspect of sex. The first girl I was with was super religious, so sex outside of marriage wasn’t allowed, and she was a freak in the sack. I’m curious where you’re going to meet most of these women. Airport bars? Apps? Somewhere else?

I was in my mid-40’s living with my parents and unemployed, but I still did well in dating. It’s definitely doable. The question is if you want to focus your time on that or rebuilding your career. I did both, but it’s like a full-time job. Now, I’m living on my own with a good-paying job, so you can come back from setbacks like that.

The truth is it doesn’t matter because you can’t change it. Will there be women who rule you out because of a height requirement? Probably, but forget them and onto the next one. You’re better off attracting the ones who are interested in you then wondering about ones who aren’t. I say this as a 5’7” guy who’s not very fit, but my dance card is currently full.

Humor can be learned by studying how others make jokes. Another suggestion I haven’t seen mentioned here is to take an improv class. That gives an opportunity to practice being comfortable and quick-witted.

I think one of the most important things is to have good photos. If you don’t meet that bar, you may have poor odds of success. Take the time to go out with a friend and have them take flattering photos of you doing a variety of activities in different outfits. No mirror pics, no selfies. Put a lot of effort into nailing the first impression, because that’s what this is. My personal style is I’m a writer and I like to use my words. The two apps I found which helped me highlight that most were OK…

Before I started online dating, I had a female friend go out and help me take good photos. I think her being a woman helped because she knew what backdrops looked good and how to angle the camera properly (you want to shoot from a higher vantage point looking down on the subject). I took a variety of outfits and kept changing so in one day, I ended up with a variety of pics in different locales. I don’t have a dog either. If I had a dog in my pictures, it would help even more.

I’m short, Asian, and unemployed. If you listened to half the sentiment on this sub, you’d think I’m undateable, but online dating has been great for me. Before you ask, I’m average in looks and don’t have money. I’m not saying it’s easy, and there were days when I get no matches and it feels bad. YMMV in that I live in a large city with a lot of people. Maybe things are different in some places more rural, but I’ve found choices to be abundant, and this is as an Asian male, which is oft conside…

I’ve seen others give the advice “don’t use online dating as your main means of meeting someone,” and I wonder why? I’ve been at it for a month and have 3 prospects (now down to 2) I’m evaluating for a LTR. I can’t be the only one having success doing this, as you seem to as well. Is there a bunch of BS you have to deal with like fake profiles, scammers, flakes, swiping right and not matching, sure… but it has been the safest way to meet someone during the pandemic. I’d much rather talk on the p…

This is part of your problem. You’re overly invested in someone you haven’t even kissed yet. If you don’t address that, you’re likely to have problems in the future (oneitis).

If you had a true abundance mentality, you wouldn’t be chasing after something that isn’t there. Take the L, move on, and try to create that spark with the next one. This is a lost cause.

If you don't like Tinder, consider Coffee Meets Bagel. I had a lot of success there (as a guy). It's the antithesis of Tinder in that it limits your choices instead of presenting you with a plethora of fake profiles to swipe through. Guys and gals are given a limited number of choices each day, so you're forced to scrutinize profiles a little closer, and it's not a numbers game. Think quality over quantity.

I agree it's not that easy to check all the boxes, but I've had consistent success with online dating. I tried app dating for the first time about a month ago, and I had to stop swiping last week because I have too many threads going on, and I need to progress and eliminate existing matches before I consider adding more. The things I think are important: having good photos, being able to carry a conversation and listen, making her laugh, ability to transition from in-app messaging to phone to bo…

Dating apps can definitely crater your self-esteem, especially if you went that long without success. My advice is try a larger variety of them and find which ones work best for you and your style. About a month ago, I decided to jump back into the dating pool after having been single during the pandemic. I downloaded 7 dating apps and found some that worked for me and some that didn't. Highly recommend taking good photos. I had a female friend help me out with this, as we went to a variety of p…

As a guy, having a platonic female friend can be a tremendous asset. One of my best friends is female and she’s like a sister to me. For online dating, she helped me take better pictures, and I constantly talk to her about what girls mean when they say this or that. She’s given helpful advice on outfits and a variety of dating scenarios, and she’s offered to introduce me to her friends more than once. We were out at a club in LA last night wearing sequin outfits and were turning a lot of heads. …

The trick to getting out of the friend zone is to be comfortable with the thought of being a friend and nothing more. I’ve been just a friend with multiple women who I ended up sleeping with. The thing is I wasn’t trying to sleep with them. Just be a good person and if the stars align, it can happen. If they don’t, then you have a good female friend, which can lead to you dating someone else, either via introduction or social proof.

The world isn’t as simple as this flow chart you describe. Are you a pretty female? Pass go, and collect $200. If not, go to the gym and become pretty. Women have just as many problems as men do in dating. They have to deal with a beauty industry that attacks their self-image with constant messages of “you are not enough” and you need to buy this lipstick, buy this dress, or have this purse. Add to that the same amount of social anxiety, self-doubt, and rejection that guys struggle with. When on…

If you’re struggling with holding a conversation, find a hobby you’re passionate about that you can talk about easily, then hang out where those people are. Bonus points if it’s a male-dominated hobby like football/MMA/video games. If I’m in a sports bar, and I see a girl who’s a fan of the same team, can talk knowledgeably about the team/sport, and drink a beer... it’s instant attraction. If you’re struggling with body language, read any of the body language books that guys read for seduction. …

Great post! You nailed it. As someone who has a large social circle, I agree 100%. Social proof is king, and knowing a ton of people gives you options and ideas for going out, so you're never too invested in a single outcome. Another tip I'd add is always say "yes" to invitations and go to things you have no interest in. You have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone and experience different cultures and food. It'll open a lot of doors for meeting new people.

Hate to break it to you, but online dating game requires just as much work if not more than day/night game in person. It's not like you go online and the sex starts flowing like a faucet, especially if you are unsure of how to seduce a woman in real life. If your game is no good in real life, being online isn't going to fix that because at a certain point you're going to have to meet her in real life, and if you can't escalate from there, you're going to hit a wall.
/r/seduction14/07/13 03:48 PM
3

If she got out of a relationship that night, why not respect her wishes and back off? A couple hours after a breakup feels too soon to be getting plowed by a guy she cares about.

If your friends are constantly putting you down when you're in a social situation with strangers, get better friends. Teasing is fine if it's just among the boys and light-hearted, but if they're cockblocking you instead of building you up in front of girls, they're not very good friends.

Granted, I haven't walked a mile in your shoes, but it sounds like you think your friend is the better catch. If that is the story you believe, then that's what will become your reality. If you focused on being the best you and not caring what others do, then that should attract plenty of women. If not, then go out with other friends. :D

It's how you carry yourself. Are you a sexual being who gets the girl? Even if you haven't slept with your female friends, if you are a sexual guy who they know gets laid, then they will look at you differently than someone who has no game. I'm not suggesting you go around bragging to your female friends that you had sex with 3 girls this past weekend, because that comes across as try hard. But there are natural ways to express sexuality. Say the girl you're dating is on anti-depressants and it …

I'm all for abolishing this notation. Other than objectifying women, it reminds me of the seedier/harder-to-defend side of pickup. When telling a woman I'm into seduction, she immediately equates PUA's with Mystery, negs, peacocking, and tricks/routines because that's the current face of the PUA community to people who are not in it. While that's certainly part of it, the community has grown over the years so we have much better faces we can put forth as standard bearers like Mark Manson. I feel…

Your game is cute and playful, but are people really worried that the 'girl' they are talking to online is not really a girl? It's 2013. I feel everybody has done online dating by now.

It's pretty bad. Most guys don't want to be labeled "cute." Puppies are cute. You want girls to tell their friends how you made her eyes roll back into her head and came so hard she fell off the bed. That's the kind of label you want.

I'd question what your motivation is for inviting 4 ex's to hang out at the same party. Are you doing it so everyone can have a good time and not feel awkward? Do you know for sure that none of them will feel jealous if they see another girl flirting with you? I'm still friends with my ex'es to the point where I can go out with two of them together, and things will be cool and platonic without anyone getting feelings. I haven't tried this with 4 or 5 at once, but I wouldn't do it unless I was 10…

I suggest laying low. If she enjoyed it the first time, when the proper situation arises (this could be in 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years), you two can reconnect and pick up where you left off. Hopefully, next time you escalate to where you want to take it. On the other hand, if she didn't enjoy it or you are too forward/needy in your advances, you run the risk of spooking her and ruining everything. Her biggest fear is that what happened can ruin your friendship, so alleviate that concern by bei…

I feel this should be a topic for another thread, but just thinking about having sex with the girl in front of you can instantly change the tone of a conversation. Your body language and face will communicate everything without you saying a word. It's really powerful stuff if you've experienced it.

Thanks for taking the time to put this post together. It's one of the best I've read on this forum, and the visual examples really pull it together nicely. One thing I'll add is this technique works for women as well, though I think they do it without the furrowed brow. I've seen women do it to me, and it results in instant attraction/chemistry. There's probably a biological component to it, like the looker is exposing themselves as being slightly vulnerable.

I think the most important items to have are: 1) Condoms. 2) Bottle of wine at the minimum. If you want to go further, a mini-fridge with beer and hard liquor/mixers is great. 3) Love seat to get comfy on. 4) Comfortable bed with high thread count sheets. 5) Spare towels, XL t-shirt for her to wear.

Take a Pepcid tablet before you start drinking. It doesn't make the red flush go away, but it lessens the effect for me. I turn more pink than bright red which is more socially acceptable. I also limit the number of drinks I have to 3 or less. If you're drinking more than that, YMMV, but this is what I do, and it minimizes the impact greatly. I don't let genes keep me from getting my drink on! I also keep a bottle of Pepcid in my car so I have it at all times.

It's not a shit test, and it may not even be rejection. It's just a sign that she wasn't ready to kiss you, probably because you didn't build enough attraction/sexual chemistry.

You can't say you have no problem with escalation if you haven't done it/are inexperienced. Kissing is really important. If you're a bad kisser, chances are she isn't going to want to see you again. So go out and get more experience!

Couple things I noticed after reading that... You're overanalyzing things and probably need to live more in the moment. Waiting till the end of the date to go for a kiss is not ideal. You want to get the first kiss out of the way at the beginning or middle of a date, so there's not this awkward dread at the end of the date (what happened to you). Your plan of brushing your facial hair against her neck sounds like a bad idea, especially for a first kiss. Every girl is different, but the women I'v…

I think you're in the Friend Zone. Dinner seated across from each other was a mistake. I speak from experience on that one. If you're trying to seduce, opt for drinks or a walk instead. You've been building rapport without sexual tension. The longer you wait, the further into the Friend Zone you'll be. Personally, I wouldn't try to escalate things with a girl who has a boyfriend, but do what you want to do.

I encountered this problem a few weeks ago, and I don't have a solution. I was with a girl who was "very shy." I started with kino - us sitting back to back at the beach, then side by side touching sides, then my arm around her, and eventually we kissed. Every step of the way, I was looking for signs that she was uncomfortable or wanted to stop. Nothing, no reaction. I view it as it's the guy's job to hit the accelerator, and it's the girl's job to hit the brakes. The problem was she wasn't hitt…

This is one of the best openers because it allows you to approach quickly and with confidence. You'll have a leg up on the guy who's eyeing her creepily across the bar who is too scared to approach, so already you have a positive first impression. You shouldn't try to study body language from a photo. Accurately reading body language requires context and a baseline of how that person normally carries themself. Instead of looking at a photo of a person standing with arms crossed, why not go to a bar and people watch there? That's a live environment where you can watch others try and fail at picking up others. To really figure it out, you have to observe normal behaviors and then spot changes in that regular behavior. Those questions you're asking are interview questions that are going to kill attraction. The way I escalate sexually (and this may not be a beginner tip), is I think sexually. It should BE natural. If you're uncomfortably trying to touch a girl, that's going to be really awkward for both parties. Start small: high fives, playful tap on an arm after a really funny joke, hug when you first meet someone. Get comfortable with those before advancing to touching legs or accidental grazes. Proximity is really important.

One thing you should be mindful of is if she has social anxiety. I'm all for direct approaches and being honest, but make sure you're reading her body language to see if she's getting uncomfortable. I don't think a guy should ever raise the question of defining the relationship or making things exclusive. Leave that to the girl when/if she wants to put a label on it. It's harder if it's just the two of you because you don't have other friends to naturally have a conversation with, allowing her to be 'left alone'. I try to talk to other people at the bar, go to the bath…
