Jeeze. Alright, everything's cool with me. I really couldn't imagine a situation where I'd be pursuing casual sex with someone from the internet and then just vomit personal details all over them, but apparently that's what happened. Carry on with the judging. People who cheat are assholes. (This didn't seem to go through when I saved it the first time, so I'm reposting it. Apologies if it comes through twice.)

Especially when it's some poor kid living with a mom who's apparently a little trollop, and some dude who's having trouble satisfying his girl because he works too much to support them. Did you actually discuss the details of their relationship at all? Because if it was an open relationship, you'd be condemning her for something that they had mutually agreed to. Possibly something that she'd been persuaded into (cuckold kinks). And how do you know that her husband was working too hard to fuck he…

Sure. I'm sure that has to do with something.

Yeah, the thing is that some people are assholes. And it has nothing to do with their sex/gender. The society we're living in is a result of contributions from both. I definitely advocate getting rid of as much bullshit as possible and getting as close to equality as we can. There are no downsides to that (except for men losing their historical dominance...but I like to think that it comes with enough upsides to compensate).

I'm aware. The whole response is basically hyperbole as far as I'm concerned. My sole intention was mimicking the OP, who said I certainly don't hate women (I'm not gay afterall)

You're both blaming the other sex. AYFKM? Did you miss the part where I was parodying the OP? Or the part where I summarized my POV on this whole thread as: There are certainly issues with modern society, but I think insisting that we return to either 1700s or even 1950s gender roles is fucking stupid and backwards.

1) I was mimicking the structure of the OP. 2) Hardship in life does not justify misogyny. 3) Let's not play who wins at suckiest doctor visits, eh? I'm pretty sure that, overall, women still have it worse in general. What with the gyno visits that start pre-20s and the whole pregnancy thing.

I was so torn between laughing at the successful troll and wanting to reach through the screen and strangle you for being intentionally obtuse. Hats off to you, sir.

Well, fuck. _^ Btw, I don't have a problem taking shit when I know that's what's going on. If I can't tell the difference between legitimate criticism and blustering asshattery, I try to tread carefully.

Yeah, I was just trying to point out that some posts might deserve the downvoting they get... especially when they are anti-equality. As for the rest, I can't explain it. People are dumb and selfish and easily brainwashed. Even on the internet, hard as it may be to believe. ;) It is shitty that there's a campaign against MRM; the us versus them attitude bothers me on both sides. But defending posts like this is what helps people like them justify the 'war'.

ಠ_ಠ I didn't say "they" weren't. I didn't say "you" are the only ones. I said that when someone shows up, ready to have the errors of their ways pointed out, shit like this is basically going to result in a "well, fuck that, at least I tried" response. Everything you wrote is valid, I'm not denying it, I'm not ignoring it, I'm not trying to explain it away or justify it. I'm just saying that you might want to feel someone out before jumping all over them---i.e., maybe I'm not "one of them," I'm …

Yeah, I can definitely understand that. But you can't recruit help when you're busy burning them in effigy. And if you're venting and not trying to have an actual discussion, it'd kind of be nice to know that up front---in any case, I'll try to keep it in mind.

The OP explicitly says getting rid of the silly idea that everyone should have an equal say in society

Which part(s), may I ask? Why not have a discussion about it instead of whipping out a onetwo-liner?

I'm still not seeing where I was advocating for anyone's choices or options to be lessened. Maybe you're hung up on how unfair it is would be to support or even empathize with returning women to traditional femininity But I'm saying RETURNING WOMEN TO, not WOMEN RETURNING TO. There is a difference between those two phrasings. If that's not it, you're going to have to break it down for me. Additional edits added to possibly clarify what I intended to say.

innate to men that women are seen to crave with an animalistic passion The question wasn't "name something men have that women don't". It was "name something men innately have that drive women crazy." My answer is biceps. Perhaps muscles/strength in general. Then again, that's just what tends to compel me to "crave" men that I never have or likely ever will meet. I can't speak for women as a whole.

Not like men have. Just like men technically have breasts, but not like women have.

Well, I didn't think I was projecting it on all MRAs, or even any MRA, but maybe not enough words ended up on the page. I edited to make what I meant more clear -- does it still come across that I'm projecting? You made yourself very clear about "feminism's" desire to reconfigure masculinity, rather than giving people choice to live their lives as they want. I'm not understanding the accusation here; please elaborate. I can't answer whether I'm being hypocritical or not at this point. Also, I'm …

we're not allowed to make any assertions in the mainstream media for fear of being branded a woman-hater and a misogynist. If I may have a word... I'm not trying to attack here, just maybe shed some light from a different perspective, as someone who's initial impressions kind of fell in that camp. This may be because a lot of the rhetoric seems to be trying to one-up (which by its very nature seeks to dismiss or downplay or override) "women's rights" rather than adding to an overall equality mov…

Why your post is awesome and the OP's isn't? In this way they help to create the oppressive archetypes of masculinity that is pushed onto men just as men help to create rigid archetypes of femininity through our own channels of power. It is a two way street. Sharing "the blame." A woman calling men out on their role in today's problems gets praised while a man calling women out on their role in our troubles gets gaslighted. And pointing out a legitimate issue. The rest of it, regarding "women's …

Going back in time has absolutely nothing to do with Men's Rights. Agree. But that is a big part of the OP, which is what I was responding to, which is why I phrased it that way. . they should have that choice to live their lives as they want. Key phrase.

The company says that virtually all U.S. parents purchase the $199 kit for family balancing, hoping for a child of the opposite gender of the children they already have. Girl kits are purchased 8% more often than boy kits. as a rule members of the online forum fit this description: Value both genders, and simply want the opportunity to parent both. None are trying to have all boys or all girls. Are seeking family balancing, usually after having 2 or more children of the same gender already. Only…

Edit (12/28) -- Hello, /r/BestOf readers. Please read the OP first so you know what this is in response to before "calling me out" on my view of men/men's rights/whatever else you feel the need to. Thanks! =) Original post: I am an interesting girl, I have hobbies, and I'm pretty sure that I am quite a bit more intelligent and valuable to society than the average person, yet men tend to want nothing to do with me [other than to fuck me]. It bewilders me that we should be expected to give respect…

If you wanted to create a thread to illustrate "why Men's Rights" has a bad reputation, you picked a pretty shitty example. There are plenty of conceptually offensive language/ideas over here, and you choose to focus on swearing and name-calling? If you or anyone on the internet gets super bent out of shape by a little bit of swearing and name-calling, the internet may not be the right place for you... Then again, you seem right at home.

I think what you're supposed to take away from it is not that "it's bad that female fetuses are being aborted" but that "it's bad that social conditions are prompting people to selectively abort fetuses of a single sex." If male fetuses were being selectively aborted because of, say, recent trends in female scholastic 'dominance,' would you not use that as a talking point to contextualize your discussions about education equality?
