I don't think Victoria is a good example tbh, she was mostly a figure head. A better example would be Catherine the great who murdered her husband, invaded what is today Ukraine and started the whole colonization thing there.

Thank you so much! This looks really useful. My peace of advice would also to focus on learning how to flirt and communicate non-verbally with women you're interested in. This is a big thing that is missing for me I think you may suffer from something I did, and that is over-intellectualizing your communication and trying to choose the optimal response. I think CDU, Greens and SPD are broadly in favor of gender neutral conscription, but not very enthusiastically of course. They could reconsider when push comes to shove, but the fact that they think supporting a gender neutral option is good optics says a lot by itself imo.

I think they didn't fully abolish it because it was difficult and only symbolic during that time. In Germany stuff like this takes a looooong time. See the death penalty in Hesse. It was suspended because that liar of a defense minister wanted a quick political win. And yes we were naive.

There were. They fought long and hard to be allowed to serve in the military in combat roles. They finally got permission to serve voluntarily in 2001. Though I don't think they advocated to include women in conscription in 2001. Conscription became unnecessary in the 90s, so they probably campaigned to get rid of it all together.

The articles regarding conscription were added in the 50s. We got rid of conscription in 2011. Until 2011 it wasn't recognized as an issue and after 2011 nobody cared because there was no conscription and nobody thought it would ever come back. The issue is that our constitution only permits conscription for men and there is not enough support to change that. That's not really the issue here. I think most people and most parties support gender neutral conscription. But that would require a 2/3rd majority in parliament. And for that the government either needs support from the AfD, which is politically impossible (even if they support gender neutral conscription, which I doubt) or from the left party. But they oppose all conscription and won't vote to expand it. So nothing is going to happen for now. Things might change after a new election though.

I don't think dismantling it is in any way realistic. We just have to deal with tribalism existing and have to work around that by creating ideas and social constructs that are inclusive and counteract the worst parts of tribalism or weaponize it in a way that we extend the "us" so far that a "them" no longer exists. I have no idea how to do that though, but I think we might be able to get there one day
