Some chinese coding companies are hiring girls just to improve their programmers' moods and the overall ambient of the office.

If that is the goal in your company then go ahead.

Yes, they are two completelly different organizations. Other countries usually accept both girls and boys in scout troops.

I think that something like that can only change after generations have passed and parents pass other values to their children. It will probably will go that way as the market asumes every day more and more that a fully functional family has two working adults. Some concepts get lost with generation like religion did in mine. The stay at home wife might be the next.

Maybe lack of cultural pressure to be a good earning adult. Men experience a lot of pressure in that regard.

Personally I think there is little cultural incentive for them to enroll but after making the decisions the career is the same for women. Ive never seen or heard of women having problems. On the contrary I know a lot of successfull female students in my university. I dont have any numbers but by feeling I would say that, if considering every gender on its own, women are more successful.

We are discussing something different though. It is true that gender expectations exist for stems but there is nothing preventing women from signing up. Personally I would not sign up to nurse school not because nurses are mostly female but because being a nurse is a sub-par profession to being a doctor.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
