I frequented a lot of public spaces and in a lot of them there would always be one or two guys who would try this out. Im from Puerto Rico and here the game is to be as social as possible. Though your way of doing it sounds a little bit to abrasive. Keep in mind im fat and ugly and i can say that the approach i used worked almost always. This does depend on the vibe you give off as a person though.
