I think where you did mess up is what you said at the end, the "I can't wait for you to show me around town." That sounds a bit off putting and I think would turn a girl off. It's supposed to be the guy that leads the date, not the girl, and it sound quite needy. Also a thing that works better, is instead of asking for her number like that.
