Doesn't this story evidence there is no double standard and that the lower working spouse being awarded money is standard? Furthermore, I thought a lot of you guys were against that idea, yet it is being celebrated here?

That was in earnest, I am honored whether you agree with me or not to be recognized as a 'know it all'. Everything I've ever believed in has been questioned. As a scientist raised by a lawyer/economist I'm willing to debate it all. Whether you agree with me or not is immaterial to my willingness to stand by my opinions and be a 'know it all'. If you disagree I'm happy to discuss your side because I am confident that either can defend my side or hopefully change my opinion to a firmer ground.

Again consistent, non marital couples bearing children are most common among AA families. Unmarried children are more common among AA families, however that data does not account for unmarried couples where both parents are present in the child's life (either romantically or otherwise). Furthermore, I postulate that when you control for economic and religious conditions that the gap of unwed children brought to term will decrease.

I went to a predominantly minority high school and I saw the white trash giving the black folk a hard time too. Loud and dancing came across as cultural differences, bigotry did not. Don't represent all of us inner city white folks as the latter. p.s nice subreddit you got here moderating downvotes and post limits to contraversial opinions

That's consistent with what I said, the non marital birth rates of AA families is the highest of all polled groups at 72% (with some adjustment for single fathers). However when you account for unmarried couples that still form nuclear family structures where the father is present the difference is far less, 80% v 90%. As a side note of personal conjecture, I imagine this gap shrinks when you adjust for religious/socioeconomic factors, IE I suggest there is little difference between extramarital…

I agree with the second part, especially noticing something I didn't the first time that she stepped on her arm. With that in mind I have more sympathy for the girl reacting the way she did but the schadenfreude expressed by many commenters still leaves a sour taste in my mouth

That's non marital birth rates and the number is 72% not 80%. An unmarried couple having a child does not mean the father is not in the picture. From the article you provided: "In 1992 Paul Glick supplied statistics showing the African-American nuclear family structure consisted of 80% of total African-American families in comparison to 90% of all US families." While absent parents are more prevalent in the AA community you have greatly misrepresented the data.
