I'm sure that happens a lot. But the only personal info asked is email address so the researcher can arrange the groups/send links. You don't have to give your actual email address, just a dummy one under a pseudonym.

People are right to be wary. But this is a legit study; this survey is just being used so the researcher can contact people to arrange focus anonymous focus groups/interviews, and the participants can be anonymous.

This is to get people to participate in focus groups; it's not a survey being used to generate data. From respondants to this questionnaire a time slot will be found for people to participate in an anonymous online focus group, according to how they identify. This is in order to create a safe space for discussion without it turning into a shouting match.

Thank you- it's really interesting that you say so. If you're able to take part in the study it would be really valuable to get your thoughts!

It's with the University of Loughborough if that helps? Once you fill in the form, you're contacted to be part of anonymous focus groups online, to discuss the role of TikTok in shaping these conversations. They've got a centre dedicated to this kind of research: https://www.lboro.ac.uk/research/online-civic-culture-centre/ Only data gathered in the focus groups can be used, unfortunately. That way they can make sure it's all legit.

I think a lot of people would agree with that. This is exactly the kind of thing that needs to be said in the study- are you able to take part?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
