1	Approaching the wall Good questions, thanks. When I was an engineer I was at the bottom of the totem pole since I only had my bachelors. I had to do a lot of grunt work. Many promotion and advancement opportunities were also closed to me since I didn't have the advanced degrees. The days I could spend doing pure research were my happiest. Getting a PhD is the best way to ensure I can have a full-time research position. Also when I was still working full-time I had enough money to spend on nice things. 2	Approaching the wall Thank you for your advice. It gives me hope that my work is not for nothing. I really enjoy my research and I would not be happy in the long run without it. I also want to get married and have a family some day, but I fear my two life goals are mutually exclusive. Haha, I like to cook and bake. 7	Approaching the wall Graduated with my B.S. at age 21. Worked from 21-24 as an engineer. Began my PhD program at 24. I like my lucrative career but I would rather not be lonely for the rest of my life. Being in school is stressful and poor. When you are stressed out over research you do not really have time or energy to focus on hair and makeup. I do try to go to the gym everyday though and eat healthy.
