it wasn't like that. more like, rigid arbitrary criteria left over as "traditional values." keep in mind, it wasn't "he must make about as much as me" it was "he must make more than me." caring about education is one thing, but insisting your husband have a higher degree level than you when you have a masters degree isn't very reasonable. if you dropped out of high school it's understandable: there's a good proportion of people who meet the criteria. if both people make their careers / making mo…

the real problem is not having a relationship. therapy is just a bandaid. i can't try new therapists, i've contacted 100s and none will treat me. therapy isn't supposed to get you a girlfriend, so they can't help me in that way either. you are coming at this backwards. tell you what: you end your relationship and live your life single. do that for the next 50 years and then see if you were happy.

i'm saying: just based on income inequality, making that much money and refusing every partner who makes less than you significantly reduces the pool of partners, before any other criteria are considered. being open to marrying someone, say, who makes 85% of what she does would significantly increase her dating pool, but for her it just isn't an option.

if all your other problems have already been solved then, yes, it does solve "all" of your problems. the alternative is generally presented as 'no, a relationship will not help you at all in any way'. no one responds when i point out that people in relationships, but who still have depression and anxiety, should--by the same logic--end their relationships. it also works when they don't. single people don't need relationships. ok, then you don't need yours either. oh, no i'm going to stay in my r…

Society teaches men to go only to girlfriend / wife for emotional problems instead of i also want sex. 2. nature or nurture, emotional intimacy feels perverse when it is not with a girlfriend / wife. 3. you are right but not in the way you mean. parents/friends/counseling have shown themselves to be ineffective. i get punished for daring to try. you mean that those would totally work if i would just try them, which is not true. i did try, and they don't want to help.

Has anyone here felt depressed, anxious, unwanted or had some significant amount of problems that were fixed by entering a relationship? yes, because the primary cause was not being able to do the things i enjoy, which boiled down to being in a relationship. let's not get obsessed with strictly defining "fixed." it's like, when you've already solved all of the other things that could be problems, and the only thing left is a relationship missing in your life, then yes, a relationship solves "all…

by definition it doesn't affect you until you get it. 2. if you're lucky it will just knock you on your ass for a few weeks. 3. people in their 20-30 can and do die. 4. many people are left with chronic, serious health problems. 5. we really don't know how common it is to have few/no symptoms because the testing capacity doesn't exist to test these people. 6. stay well future content creator for r/LeopardsAteMyFace

i don't really take pleasure in the misfortune of others, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out. most of these people will be left with chronic health problems and a significant proportion will die.

a woman who told her bf (they were both in a car on a drive) that she was thirsty 5 minutes before they were scheduled to stop at a store to get snacks. Just to see if he will remember. i know a woman who would intentionally taking a long time to get ready to go somewhere so that she could test if the guy she was dating would get angry or tolerate waiting for her. i know because she told me. it is what trp calls a "shit test."

appearance, bare minimum: when i imagine having sex with this person, do i see myself needing to think about someone else to finish? if no, then they meet that standard. personality: there's too much to get into. they don't need to be perfect, but it needs to be a workable relationship. we don't need to have everything in common, but enough shared hobbies, interests, etc. to do things together. do you talk to them too and it just doesn’t work? i don't get the chance to talk to them, and when i d…

I also think, as with most men on this sub, you don't understand how many men explicitly do not want a woman who outearns him or desires him to be a homemaker. if anything, it's just because those men are rightly skeptical that the woman won't eventually leave him because she (in some way) thinks she can get a better partner. here's a data point, for what it is worth: i got into a conversation with a woman i worked with during a happy hour, and she brought up dating. she makes 100-150k. the #/10…

My question for guys: Is waiting inherently off-putting and would you reconsider dating a woman who you entertained as a serious gf candidate if she didn't want to have sex early? Yes, and yes, but it depends on "early" and "dating" mean. Off-putting: the reality is, people generally have sex with the people they are a "life partner" with I can get most other benefits from a relationship from other kinds of relationships if monogamy wasn't expected of me, and I had options for sex with others, t…
