One i havent seen mentioned is sympathy for the abuser and a belief that abuser is acting out of mental illness and their own trauma, and is therefore not a 'real' abuser, and that it would be wrong to report or label them as such and would just hurt them and prevent their own 'recovery' (even if that recovery never seems to come any closer). There's not really any public narrative around female-perpetrated abuse, and the discussion that does exist tends to focus on female perpetrators being vic…

This is it. The teachers are overwhelmingly from a feminist acadrmic and social background. They literally hate men and talk about it. That translates into how they teach and judge boys. They hate boys: https://www.reddit.com/r/Teachers/comments/1v13vlw/world_cup_and_middle_school_boys/

Literally all avenues of public policy on social priblems are dominated by an ideology which says men cant have any systemic gender related problems. What else do we focus on?

Australian policy is some of the worst for male victims of abuse. I didnt even dare to call a service because of how they discussed the issue.

Look up the victoria, australia MARAM guidelines on domestic violence. Their whole section on male victims is calling us liars. Check out pages 98 and 99. In their section on suicide they also say that a third of suicidal men are abusers without a source. https://www.vic.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-09/371%20VS%20Full%20Set_0.pdf

that men should be self-reliant, emotionally restrained, and capable of handling personal struggles Notice how this kind of masculine shame also has little to do with the really negative 'im scared of being seen as a weak girl' that feminists love to attribute it to (so they can imply its really just misogyny in disguise) Those fears come from actual real pressures men face not some silly obssession with being a macho man as you noted. Hell a lot of the 'positive masculinity' models that get thr…

Thank you so much. I despise this narrative and how popular and acceptable it is in progressive spaces despite being so innaccurate and offensive. If anything the difference in diagnosis is because autistic boys are singled out as defective and in need of correction more quickly.

Whereas external negatove pressures on men are 'toxic masculinity'. I.e its their own masculine identity causing the issue. Men's own defectiveness, even when its somethong harming them. Theres a reason they dont ever say 'toxic femininity' they know that phrase carries different implications to 'internalised misogyny' as much as they deny it.

God FD signifier annoys me. I remember him saying in a video that false accusations dont happen,, except to black men. Conveniently allowing him to say he is affected by mens issues but other men arent.

Honestly this explanatory is fairly good compared to a lot of places. It at the very least acknowledges male victims of female abusers and discusses a case including false allegations by the femal perpetrator. Im honestly quite surprised.

They know they cant just explicitly say men arent victims because that would get criticism so they will give a disclaimer and do everything they can to downplay it by emphasising gay men first, claimimg men are likely to be liars etc.

No amber did a good job framing him and he liked crude shock humour which was easy to use against him. Youbhad to actually listen to the hours of audio which most people didnt, so they were able to lie about this and spin it.

In the vast majority of cases female abusers will run smear campaigns which involve claiming to be the victim. Feminists will almost always support these unless it is so utterly undeniable that it would look completely hypocritical to do so (which is rare).

Criticism of feminism doesnt mean empathy for men's issues.

I mean yeah feminist groups do actively try to limit recognition of genuine mens activism and it suits them if mens issues are seen as being synonynous with Tate type figures. But even in general men really just dont tend to think 'i should get public support to push against thia' when they face discrimination. So mens activists would be fighting an uphill battle for engagement even without feminists opposing them.

The problem is that actual advocates for issues affecting men are incredibly marginal, both in their advocates and the attention they get, so influencers like thenones Theroux addressed take up most of the space in oublic discussion of the 'manosphere'. Men tend not to look for social support as solutions to their issues so dont involve thenselves in support movements the way women do, and the general lack of empathy for men means that advocates for male issues barely register even when people d…

No I don't believe that. It's pretty well established that Depp likes very crude sarcastic humor and shock jokes (at least in private settings with people who share that sense of humor)

It's a crude shock humour joke between good friends who presumably have an understanding that it's sarcastic. The whole point is that its ridiculous and over-the-top imagery and obviously non serious. Loads of people use extreme dark or shocking humour with close friends which would look really disturbing to people out of the loop. There's entire games like Cards Against Humanity built out of it. I've literally seen them claim the audio is edited then link to 5 second clips of Depp saying 'I headbutted you in the forehead' without context as if this is unequivocal proof of abuse.

Jess Taylor is unhinged. I remember reading her blog and she was claiming that men asked her out and then punched her in the face for rejecting them in the middle of a bar and that this happened every time she went out for months and months. It's not shaming of female traits, it's shaming of men due to lack of empathy for men. She doesn't hate women, she hates men that don't follow the gender roles that she wants them to.

Oh yeah the ironic thing is that he doesn't even behave threateningly in that video. He is ignoring her when he slams cupboards, it isn't even directed at her. And when he does start talking to her he stops. And he leaves the moment he sees her filming which would understandably make him angry. It's a video that is quite an understandable reaction to her treatment of him
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/11/25 11:06 PM

You saw this in the depp/heard trial. She was literally on tape talking about hitting and throwing things at him out of anger because he doesnt give her enough attention when she yells at him yet this gets dismissed as 'reactive abuse'. Whereas Depp drinking, or saying 'I headbutted you in the forehead' is treated as if it could only be abuse even though that could easily be accidental/defensive.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/11/25 10:01 PM

Oh 'reactive abuse' which is what they will claim absolutely any abuse any man has evidence of a woman committing against him is.

I mean intersectional doesn't cover it really because there are aspects that involve specific biases against men which are not supposed or allowed to exist by most feminist theory in its current form. What's being shown here is sexism against men that crosses over into ableism. It's not an 'intersection' that intersectionality can ever really acknowledge or analyse because 'progressive' sexism against men is not supposed to exist.

Oh yeah these posts on all the women's subs about how men supposedly get let off easy with adhd and similar issues are so insulting. If you are able to function that well then I'm sorry but you are misdiagnosed or have very mild adhd.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/25 07:09 PM

it is the lying, emotional disregulation, emotional manipulation Adhd should not cause lying or manipulativeness or really even severe dysregulation of emotions. And the issue with the screenshot is them coming up with ridiculous and insulting theories that men with adhd only struggle because society supposedly coddles them. That poster also says they have adhd and don't struggle to get things done, in which case they are either misdiagnosed or have very mild adhd.

Honestly it's not just statistical failings. There's basic methodological problems in so much feminist research even outside of this.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/11/25 06:59 PM
17

Yeah there is honestly such a shocking lack of rigour in feminist social science work that would get it labelled pseudoscience on any other field. For example I saw a paper on domestic violence claiming that women who use violence do so only in self defence, and the sample they used to argue this was 120 couples from a MENS convicted abuser program. So their sample was chosen to specifically ask abusive men and women who were victims of abuse what their motive for using violence was. It was genu…

It's also just straight up not accurate to claim that a substantial majority men are actually in positions of significant power over the women they interact with outside of specific situations. At least in the western world.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/10/25 11:06 PM

I remember reading Kimberly Crenshaw's intersectionality theory and it was just a specific argument highlighting that on a legal context discrimination law and judgements should consider the possibility of forms of discrimination specific to certain identity combinations, such as black women. It is not some kind of total universal social theory like it is treated now.

I mean there are plenty of posts there iirc defending Amber Heard. Honestly very few abuse victim spaces are safe for men. They are basically made for women and as awful as it sounds women who are abusive and/or just hate men rather than really caring about abuse love to hijack discussions on abuse.

The people who do these reports in Australia are utterly allergic to actually considering that men might face any actual issues or bias or that maybe being a bad person isn't a male specific trait.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/09/25 06:08 PM
25

All the Australian reports are like this. There's a section of the DV policy by the state of Victoria that has a section called 'women who use force' which is like 100% about how women simply don't abuse men and are only violent in self defense
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/09/25 06:07 PM

Loads of those spaces are basically echo chambers run by narcissists who's main objective is gratifying themselves. They do this shit because they literally don't care about of these actual issues beyond the extent to which it gives them a platform to shame people and claim credit for themselves in their own circles. They would rather a government run by extremist criminals over having to show the slightest empathy or compromise.

I think overall, depsite male victims being more common than often believed and despite stats often being used misleadingly, it's clear that women are still a lot more likely to be victims of sex crimes. There are some people here who try to suggest otherwise but I don't think it's really helpful to advocacy on mens issues or accurate to try to argue that.

Literally none of the 'bad' things you did are bad. Repeating something someone said is a normal mistake. You are allowed to take issue with generalisations about men. The fact that you think those things make you a problem is WHY we criticise feminist ideology, it's designed to inspire self hatred and undeserved guilt in men who are decent people. The issue is that feminists will not allow discussions of men's issues outside very narrow boundaries. Their core belief is that the west is a patria…

Others will then say it's because women have built support networks. None ever seem to note that these are contradictory answers. Both are designed to minimise the issue and to be subtly condescending or dismissive towards men. They are choosing these answers for that reason. They don't actually care they just want to stop discussion that centres a mens issue in any context.

Old comment but this was exactly my experience. Up until I realised I was being abused I knew no other male victims of abuse (and it took a lot of reading before I considered myself one). Then I left and made an effort to talk about it and I discovered my best friends dad got physically abused by the mom, 3 other friends had 2 abusive relationships each including physical violence, stalking and phone hacking, false accusations, at least 1 rape, and one suicide attempt caused by emotional abuse. …

I can go on a really long rant about the atrocious way studies on this in general are conducted and the awful state of Australian policy. There was a policy paper claiming that 'women are just defending themselves' and every study they cited was a qualitative study either specifically interviewing women who were victims, or interviewing women who had been arrested and taking what they claimed at face value. Not one study interviewed a single male victims or conducted any kind of broad study of m…

Choose one. Saying street harassment is rare for men does not in any way suggest its not as bad when it happens. There is no contradiction there. men dislike it less; and it's less dangerous for men when it happens to them. It didn't say this. I said that women assume men will like it. The last point saint my implication either although it is objectively true that its less damgerous. I mean that people who harass others out of enjoyment want it to be uncomfortable for the victim. If a woman who wants to make a man uncomfortable thinks the man will enjoy the attention then they won't harass them. Hence why women don't catcall etc as much or do so in more limited circumstances such as time when they think it's funny. They also tend to be less attracted to men on pure physical reasons and find it easier and so are less likely to sexually harass in public to try to get a guy's a…

My god does no one have any comprehension? humiliation, blackmail, humor, establishing dominance, or just the random thrill of exercising the freedom to do it. Yes and I'm saying that these mostly don't work if a toxic woman believes her sexual comments/harassment of men will be taken positively, which is why you don't see toxic women (especially young women) harassing men in public as much. I'm literally arguing against feminists who claim the difference in street harassment is because men spec…

Lol what? you can check my comment history to see its mostly arguing against feminists/misandrists. I didn't say it's not as bad. I said its less common (specifically for street harassment) because toxic women have less circumstantial motivation/ability. yes which is why I said less common. And my comment is specifically arguing women are equally as shit but just have less objective reason to engage in public harassment as opposed to the sorts of things op describes

yeah and women assume their sexual attention will be received positively hence are less likely to do it for those reasons as well.

The main difference is that a) women don't tend to be rlas physically attracted to men they see in public, b) are physically weaker than men, and c) assume men on the street would be flattered by their attention. Hence toxic women don't really have the motive or ability to easily harass men in public which makes this way less common. However in the context of situations where they are in situations where they want to have sex they are just as bad as men for being pushy, not asking for consent, r…

I've legit had people insist the the actual policies in my country which deny the existence of male DV victims, which were advised by women's groups and explicitly cite feminism as their basis, are because of patriarchy because the government that passed them has more men on it.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/05/25 07:37 AM

yeah rhe opposition to phrases like 'man up' has always been purely about the fact that they could be interpreted to mean that being manly is good, which is what feminists have a problem with. They are fine with the underlying idea of 'men should shut up about their problems and deal with them silently' and fund progressive ways such as criticising men for demanding emotional labour.

It's much more likely that the rapes of males were qualitatively different (more violent, more repeat offenders etc) in recent years causing harsher sentences. i mean they note themselves that this wasnt the case before 2018. if it was something as long term and pervasive as supposed societal misogyny you would expect it to be consistent and not change so drastically year-on-year.
