I assume she married after the birth of the child and her new husband then adopted the child and that's how his name got put on the birth certificate. But I have no idea what the truth is, nor do I know the timeline as to whether this adoption happened before or after Mr Ross was ordered to pay child support. 1	Mans life ruined through child support payments for a child that has a different mans name on the birth certificate The facts of this case are a little unclear and the man acted odd and didn't help his case by not protesting paternity from the start. He let $100 be garnished because he felt it was no big deal and not worth protesting, but then 5 years later when it was bumped to $320 a month he finally spoke up. The government may attribute his paying support for 5 years without speaking up as accepting paternity. I am aslo in the USA and ignorant of how British pounds translates to USA dollars. Let be clear though, it should NOT be this easy for a woman to collect child support and it should be easier to fight it, but it gets more difficult to fight if you don't fight it from the get-go. But the parenting plan will say how the parents or the judge decided - it's not a detail that gets skipped over, there is a section for it. If parenting plan says father gets to declare the child, he should do it. If the IRS comes back and said mother already did it, then all the father has to do is show the parenting plan to the IRS and they will turn around and adjust the mother's taxes as she did not have authority to do it.	/r/MensRights	27/02/19 04:16 PM
