I never really thought of it that way, but now that I am... 1) It's kind of awesome that domes are the staple of all Cathedrals and Mosques and Synagogues 2) Can we really tell if the designer was thinking of Penis or the Vaginal canal? Do we not go inside a skyscraper? Maybe they were thinking of a gender-neutral sexy body part, like the tongue. Maybe those awesome, gorgeous domes I listed in the beginning were actually the designers expression of longing for a sexy man ass cheek and then they …

It was drawn by a female artist named Nicola Scott. She signed it this way. I don't think this was made with gay guys in mind. That is priceless! Thank you so much for sharing. When I talk about what appeals to straight women, I'm really just going off what my straight women friends tell me, and they might be less inclined to tell a lesbian about their love of man-ass than gay dudes are. You forgot to mention Talia. Who date raped Batman at one point. Clearly, she didn't win his heart, I would a…

That may appeal more to dudes who are into other dudes ;) - and hey, I'm sure that are some women also looking at that fine man-ass and drooling. However, I'd say Bruce Wayne was drawn to appeal to women - he's wealthy, he's a genius, he's dapper as fuck, and he is practically invulnerable except for his crippling emotional issues (which a good woman will solve with her love!) The only reason we know batman wasn't written explicitly to appeal to straight women is that woman after woman fails to …

I don't know of any solid data on non-romantic co-parenting, especially any long term study on children. However there is this documentary on asexuality, and it features an asexual romance or two. There are also forums here and you can ask around, someone on this site might know of data or have personal experiences to share. I know what it's like to be repulsed by 'traditional' sexual and romantic relationships. We are a social species, social interaction and kinship ties are human needs. There …

I question the romantic entanglement prerequisite of such a partnership though. Can a man and a woman not be equal partners in the raising of offspring? From what I know, the asexual community is exploring non-romantic co-parenting, but I don't know any other groups exploring this. They are also, of course, exploring non-sexual romantic relationships and non-sexual life in general, they are exploring the difference between sexual and romantic feelings. Everything I've seen from them is just that…

The prevalence of intersexual conditions is much higher than 0.01% This is a much bigger deal for the intersex community than the trans community. Intersexuals and their parents should hold off on gender assignment if such an assignment would be difficult to make (Individuals with AIS can be assigned female at birth because almost all of them grow up to identify as women, but individuals with XXY should not be because they have a good chance of identifying as either gender). However: Disrupting …

I agree! But to explain my understanding of how the justice system deals with the situations like the one you're talking about, I'd like to use the Ohio sex-enslaver as an example. Castro is facing 977 charges. They are charging him for each individual crime: hundreds of counts of assault and abduction and rape and child endangerment and ect. I'm all for that. Death doesn't have to be preferable, we can prosecute each crime and make a criminal serve the sentences in a row. What I have a problem …
/r/MensRights18/07/13 04:32 AM

I'm pretty sure this sentence was meant for an SVU style fantasy, it must have been passed through because someone cried "a molested child is better off dead". I was molested as a child, by a woman, and I fully agree with the crying lawyer here, murder should always carry a greater sentence than molestation/rape/assault. I am not dead, and I am not better off dead. My abuser deserves to be punished, but not as much as a murderer. Murder is worse.

I watched the video and it sounded to me as though the criminal who assaulted a 5 year old child on camera was a different person than the one who is being sentenced to life in prison. The first criminal was 'only' sentenced to 70 years in prison, which I'm totally okay with.

I'm a woman, and I was really excited to join the military and become a combat engineer- a position closed to me because I am a woman. It was like a slap in the face. I was really pissed about that... and then I found out I didn't meet the physical requirements anyway, most women don't. I really don't think that women who meet those requirements should be barred from the jobs. TL/DR: I think they want the jobs but fail the physical requirements

She has back-ward beliefs that lead to terrible decisions. It sounds like she has no ability to take personal responsibility. Until she takes control of her life, limit your exposure to her. I agree with the OP that men aren't given a fair shake in film as a whole. However, the Bechdale test is important and it is not about "pre-set goal to prove which is false even if the answers to the questions are yes or no or whatever" There are many valid reasons a film wouldn't pass the Bechdale test that aren't "Patriarchy". There are also many great films that do pass it, many of my favorites do, so do some of the greatest films of all time (Like: The Wizzard of Oz). There are tons of inter…

When I was a kid from a troubled home, every example of a supportive, loving family left me out and made me embarrassed of my family. I would never try to outlaw loving families doing supportive things. I found a supportive network of adults and involved them in my life. I don't know of sites, but it is in feminist books on sex. I thought there was one essay in that discusses exactly this in "Yes means yes: visions of female sexual power and a world without rape." Edited by Jaclyn Friedman and Jessica Valenti. I can't find it in there now that I'm double checking. I think the sex industry is obscenely terrible when it comes to workers' rights, but here's how I'd fix it: Legalize and tax everything (for adults) - this makes a paper trial. Is one guy taking 90% of a dozen prostitutes' money? Do most prostitutes keep almost alal of their pay? The IRS will know that now, and we can have real data on fair vs. unfair payment practices in the sex industry. I have definitely met more lesbians than rad fems, but I can't speak to the population ratio of either. Maybe you are on to something with your first point. Your second point? I disagree, I think the reason we think there are more rad fems out there is that often times, no one can tell the woman they work with is a lesbian, but rad fems out themselves quickly and the experience is more jarring and more memorable than a "Oh, you're gay? huh.... moving on"

a lot of rad fems have to fake being lesbians because their ideology says that men are evil and that sex with them is rape. Or they can't have the sex they want because of their indoctrination, so they settle for a relationship they don't want.

A lesbian is romantically and sexually attracted to women only. A queer is completely undefined with possible lesbian, gay, bi, transgendered, questioning, allied, or intersexual identity. Many rad fems who identify as same-sex attracted, or who are in same sex relationships have no sex. I'm not kidding, there's a chapter on it in "yes means yes."

Kind of. Older folks stick to the idea that it's a slur. Younger folks use it describe people in the community who don't fit into a category of the LGBTQAI (Where this Q means questioning), or describe the entire community Queer= {L,G,B,T,Q,A,I}. The rad fem I ran into argues that anyone who describes themselves as Lesbian, or Gay or Bi or Transgendered/sexual or questioning or allied or intersexual is trying to assert power over everyone else. You assume they actually love other women. I haven't seen that demonstrated in my 12 years as member of the gay community. I have seen rad fems who are in woman-on-woman relationships, but they lack sexual desire for one-another and full acceptance of one another. Specifically: they show no physical affection for one another even in gay-friendly/private spaces. I think that the exercise is sound in the context of the story. The lesbian-identified woman in the movie is actually bisexual. I think that good arguments have solid foundations. The image suggests that hatred of penetration comes from elements within the lesbian community or identity. I have not found this to be the case. A lesbian's sexuality rarely excludes penetration completely, it's just more likely than a straight women's sexuality to include penetrating others as the only act of penetration. The quote misrepresents lesbians, who we are, how we have sex, and how we think about sex other people enjoy. I am glad th…

It's because this action isn't about protecting your father, making him regret the choices he made, or even about getting even. It should be about restoring respect and dignity for your father. He chose to make sacrifices for you, he chose not to bad mouth your mom and he chose live with the consequences for it without complaint. This is who your dad is, and you can choose to love him for who he is. I still think that.... down the road, like decades from now, you should keep your distance from y…

Yeah, right there with you dude. I'm sorry you have to deal with her, and I'm sorry you and your dad have to give more and get back less. Maybe you can let your dad know how much you appreciate all he's done for you? I'm not saying you should sit him done and say you think his whole life was a raw deal- just spend time with him. Tell him he's the most moral/decent person you know and ask for his advice. Let him know you'll help with money stuff as he gets older. Take him out for meals/drinks. Th…

A lot of us have been told to blame our fathers for everything, and a lot of us did. Since they aren't married, you can make it up to him by giving him a comfortable retirement. Stick your mother in a home and don't visit her.

I think there are situations where affairs actually save marriages- but only marriages that are really really awful for one partner who cannot end the marriage. I think men are in that situation more than women nowadays - my dad is- but I doubt he's cheating.

"Mr Fischer donated the damages payout and £2,250 of his own money to the child protection charities Kidscape and Orphans in the Wild after learning of the decision." This guy is awesome! He went out of his way to show that his fighting for men's rights is about protecting children too. Automatically trusting certain groups of people helps predators- not victims- and it encourages witch hunts.

Men like you are my heroes. I wish there was a fund for fathers fighting crazy ex wives, or an organization that could help you manage some of this.

Find the highest up reasonable person and get that person on your side, or find another program. I know that it's a pain in the ass to transfer, but it's worse when you are getting screwed and you have no one to make appeals to. If you are really close to graduating, then play like you found the light and quote some feminist. Remember, it's like sunday school where all the answers are "God, Jesus, Love." In feminist studies it's "patriarchy, slut shaming, womanhood."

The clinical treatment for pedophiles is usually a drug that severely reduces libido (like Zoloft) and not chemical castration. Chemical Castration is much more severe, and I hear that it is something the courts do or want to force upon people convicted of this crime. If you go to a reasonable therapist* and self-identify, they would probably give you an anti-depressant that reduces libido. ** If you or someone you know needs this, look for one with no history of recovered memories therapy, or j…

I hope you do well in your studies and that your well-researched, well-reasoned arguments help some feminists question their beliefs. I'm rooting for you!

I'm a recovering feminist, and I remember this issue being discussed in feminist spaces. I clearly never bought this argument, and it's possible I completely misunderstood it, but it goes something along the lines of "Motherhood is sacred and a woman will always make the choice that is best for her family" ... blah blah blah ... "She may need to put the baby up for adoption so the abusive father can not hurt him/her" ... blah blah blah ... "Patriarchy" One article I saw cited a study where resea…

There is also a great deal of racism throwing a wrench in things. When I was in Mormon Sunday school, we were still being taught that "dark" people were dark because of sin - It's one of one million reasons I left.

Alarming data shows as many cases of male MST as female cases. Men are less likely to report trauma, and 6X more likely to struggle with PTSD than women survivors. The article also sheds light on the percentage of female perpetrators (around 40%). It looks like the VA is two steps ahead of other institutions dealing with sexual trauma in the US.

Women who shun men who show their emotions are going to end up surrounded by men who care more about their fake persona (aka "man card") than genuine human connections. Women who think and act the way the women in your class were are going to end up changing or end up unhappy- avoid the crap out of these harpies or you will end up miserable too.

I'm not sure "If men have sexual Independence then a woman isn’t needed. When it comes to children they can simply hire a mother to inseminate and have their baby. Even better if done in another country where she isn’t a US citizen; then she can’t claim any real right to the child. Men would be free to live how they wanted and to raise children as they see fit without having to give in to women and support the ones too lazy to work." Why aren't gay men threatening then? Gay men don't need women …

Okay, "Another test: Imagine a woman telling you what to do when you give her a back rub. "A little higher, a little to the left, harder, yeah right there", now...imagine the average woman telling you what to do when you're giving her oral sex. There's a series of slight noises and body movements that are open to interpretation, and if you cared about her, you'd make the effort to figure out what she likes." Before I have oral sex with a woman, I let her know that if she can't tell me what she l…

I guess humanity didn't learn enough from Elizabeth Bathory. Celebrity/nobility and gender shouldn't get you out of taking responsibility for torturing or raping or murdering human beings. On a lighter note, I think it would be interesting to study who gets better favor from the justice system; women or celebrities.

For every woman who is told that her vagina is nasty, smelly and sinful, there is a man who is told that his penis is shameful. For every man spouting off disgusting anti-vagina rants, there is a woman spouting off disgusting anti-penis/balls rants. If he was my brother, I'd tell him that women who can't get down with a sexually mature men aren't women worth fucking, but I live in a different city, within a different subculture. Hey dude, your mother is abusive and you need to protect yourself from her physically, emotionally and legally. Document everything. Do not delete texts/emails/voice mail. Is she calling you an unreasonable amount? Keep documentation of the frequency. No matter what you do, form a plan and a back up plan: how will you lawyer up? How will you manage your finances? How much are you willing to give up? Do you have legal assistance at your college? Are you being financially supported by her? Read th…

You need to flesh this thought out a little more. Children who are raped (I speak from experience) have sexual knowledge that other children do not have. We had no moral context for sexual acts. We had no idea that there are consequences and risks associated with sex and no concept of sexual boundaries. Generally, our 'play' with other children was very sexualized but not to the point of violence. We were the kids that other kids went to for answers about sex, babies, parts, ect. At a certain ag…
