A handy rule of thumb: Clubs that play generic Top 40 type music are going to attract a generic type crowd, where the focus is to pick up (or try), get drunk, or show off your tits/muscles. I enjoy electronic dance music, so I go out to electronic dance club nights. The focus is to dance and listen to good music, so you don't get the losers trying to pick up, and all the other problems mentioned in the article.
