I have two examples of male teachers abusing students in other states. Brandon Tomblin was sentenced to 20 years for a consensual relationship with two students, while being HIV positive. In an example of stacking up charges, Mark Mercer had 29 felony counts brought up against him, which he pleaded down and got 26 to 33 years in prison. A man would most likely have been given some jail with about the same probation and a similar fine in a plea deal. The problem I have is that misinformation on either side can lead to misunderstanding of the disparity that does definitely exist. A consensual relationship between a teacher and a student is of course against the law and is listed under section 21.12 as a felony of the second degree. Source This is essentially the case that is being argued above. They would not be able to sentence a man for 25-life for a second degree felony. 1	Teacher gets probation for having sex with student - Students Think It's Too lenient I can see a plea getting this down to a lesser offense to get probation and a $5000 fine to save time and taxpayer money, but that should be for either gender. On the other hand the claim that men would get 25 to life for the same crime, what is described as a second degree felony is a BS claim.
