Try both and see what you prefer. Personally i do judo which is very similar to bjj and I love it. Obvious differences would be boxing is all striking and bjj is all grappling and submissions. Not sure about boxing but in bjj small guys can dominate big guys, so keep that in mind if you try it out.

As a person who has done judo/bjj for 5 years now religiously, I can say that strength and technique are two sides of the same coin. Excess of strength can make up for a lack in technique and vice versa, but both are just as important. There is a reason why weight divisions exist. That said, as a 150 lb 5'10'' guy, I find myself reguarly tapping out bigger guys, like 230+lb dudes with years of experience. So it's not set in stone.

1500? Damn, that's a STEAL compared to leasing. The major thing that's steering me towards buying a newer model (like 2014ish) would be family who would prefer me to buy something that they consider "reliable" as in has a small chance of breaking and will last a long time. But those cars cost like 10-15k and I'd rather not blow all my savings.
