I typed out an entire reply but this basically summed up my answer too. Churches are made up of imperfect people. As is the group of biblical writers (supposedly God dictated, but who is to say there wasn't paraphrasing, or other writers weren't left out?) I choose to base my faith off my own relationship with God and what I feel He speaks to me, and that does stray a lot from what my overly traditional childhood church taught.

How so? You think male and female bodies are identical? That's absurd. Facial hair is a perfect example - men have coarse facial hair, women have it thin and light. And men's razors often have more blades. Shampoos marketed towards men are often "two in one" to save time while (most) women are geared towards taking extra time for better products. Holy shit thank you. I have been the one picking up the work my male teammate slacks on. We are both working on a lengthy analysis, and somehow, at the end of the day, almost all of the progress made was done by me, because he spent the day repetitively updating his Twitter feed. I didn't even think to ask if female rapists should get softer sentences. I'll use that next time. I also just learned that up until 30 years ago, the legal definition of rape didn't even INCLUDE men. Unfortunately, I did mention how shitty men have it as victims, and their response was that "male rape is also a feminist issue".
