Women can abort, and have historically aborted, whether or not it's illegal. If she really wants to get out of 18 years of child support, she could try it manually, pay someone under the table, or abuse drugs. Here, child support does go both ways. If the mother gives up the child to the father, the father will claim maintenance support from the mother until the child is 16-19 or until the child is adopted (for example if the father remarries and his spouse adopts his child with him). In short, mothers have to pay child support if they give up the child, unless he or she is given up to the state or adopted. (This is based on UK law).

I'm not a feminist. Not everyone that has a different opinion to you is a feminist. A single mother can't just drop a child into an adoption agency if a biological father wants the child. Never in a million years would an orphanage accept a child from a woman when the child has a bio father who wants to adopt them without history of abuse.

Adoption and safe haven laws applies to single fathers, and single fathers can also apply and qualify for welfare. Also, I don't think there would be fewer single mothers if abortion was illegal. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3243347/
