I wonder if androphobia is the better term. Apparently it is an actual phobia-phobia, but I'm thinking of it by analogy to transphobia: there's a demonization aspect, a "fear of [group's] power" that isn't present in misogyny, at least as that term is commonly understood and applied in a "patriarchal" context.

Gender-affirming care as the standard of care for trans folks is an ideology. Oppose that, and you get called transphobic; this is exactly equivalent to rejecting third-wave, TER, or any type of feminism and being called misogynistic. The term "gendered violence" just needs to go. It's a clever way to lump the sexual and domestic assault of women together. These are two very different crimes, the latter being committed by women against men at higher rates than vice versa (lesbian couples likewise report way more violence than gay couples).

The DV hotline I called turned around and sent the police to my home. I was at work at the time. My mixed-gender housemates, already weary of my ex sending cops over for "wellness checks," promptly voted to evict me. Of course I assumed my ex was continuing her hobby of legal/administrative abuse; only after making a public records request for an mp3 of the 911 call did I learn the vastly more sickening truth.
