Would appreciate any specific advice you have on being with a man in medicine, as I recently started dating a physician who works long hours as well and he has been under a lot of stress. I am not in medicine, so I was wondering what insight you might have on being part of his support system!

This is a great question and I think a lot of women who are used to being with desirable, successful men struggle with it. I think theres a few things: 1) taking a break from dating, doing some self reflection and realizing that men "above your league" are not ever going to lead to a lifelong relationship/marriage, and re-orienting your standards. This would also include being more flexible with dealbreakers, such as being open to men who have kids/divorced, older in age, etc. 2) as u/Inevitable…

Yes I think this is generally true and it explains why women should be more selective about how soon she becomes intimate with a partner and who the partner is. A lot of dating coaches and RP commentators have pointed out that women can easily sleep with a man above her “league” (celebrities, athletes, CEOs etc) but that does not equate to him committing or marrying her. This becomes an issue because many of those women think that sleeping with that high value man means that they are now in the …

Quick aside: an observation I’ve noticed from friends and my social circle is that starting to date a man while they are in the middle of medical/law school rarely works out. The only times I’ve heard of it (sometimes) succeeding are when 1) you’re also in medical/law school and you’re both fellow students or 2) you were in a committed relationship with him prior to him starting med/law school. But I am sorry to hear and I think myself and most women know how this feels. It’s a normal part of da…

Honestly seems like things are fizzling out. We went out for lunch a few days ago (dinner plans fell through) and things were a little awkward, I did gently bring up the topic and he mentioned that he's just been busy and we have not been corresponding very much at all. I haven't been reaching out and will put this relationship on pause/not reach out until there's other developments.

Thanks! I do think it’s important to bring the topic up for myself. I think the timing is what makes it tricky. Obviously if you have it too early, they may not have made up their mind yet so you’re putting undue pressure on them. He is coming over for dinner this weekend, I suppose I’ll observe and see if I want to bring it up. Is this convo something you’d recommend being most effective in person or over the phone?

This is really helpful! And yes, I gree that men's actions mean way more than their words. There was a period of 3-4 days when he mentioned he'd be really busy and working super late so I did not overthink his behaviour at the time. But in the last few days it's clear that he's back on his regular schedule (he's going out with his friends etc). But he's definitely still not initiating conversations as much as he did in the beginning. I did make plans to have him over for dinner which he agreed t…

Thanks for the thoughts on this! To respond to your first prompt - our dates have been a mix of going out to dinner/drinks, art galleries, walks by the beach etc, not really grand gestures or anything extravagant (and I do contribute to a portion of dating expenses here and there). He did pay for a significant portion of the weekend trip which i acknowledge was expensive due to hotels, travel, dining etc in an expensive city. I will take your advice and think of ways to better express my appreci…

Yep this is a good point. I always try to give people space when we are dating, especially if they are busy at work. I am trying to match his response rates and not over-text. Once I'm in a committed relationship with a man I don't care much about texting or response time assuming we are going on dates. I think what has me anxious is that we are still pretty early into dating and it just seems too early for him to fall into infrequent texting. I'm going to observe how our dynamic is in person an…

Thanks! This is helpful! I am also not a huge fan of "calling out" slow fading early in the dating process. I'll bring up that suggestion and see if having him over for dinner changes anything. I'd like to think I have been reciprocating but I am the type that warms up to people a bit slower.

The idea of "I *implicitly* owe him sex because he paid for dinner" is one of the most degrading and insecure ways a woman can think of herself. The average respectable dinner date place is around 50-80 bucks a person. If a guy on the street came up to you and tried to give you $50 to have sex with him, would you do it?

One of my married male collogues (who I think is a HVM) once said "I'm not afraid to drop money on a beautiful engagement ring the same way I am not afraid of spending money on a down payment or a college education - the biggest commitments in your life are investments, and I don't see an engagement as any different"

Um...has this guy actually SEEN an OFFICE before? Has he not noticed that indeed men are sitting in the majority of c-suite and managerial roles within the most lucrative offices around the world (finance, banks, tech companies)?

I can't agree enough! It's these types of things that really communicate how they really feel about you. In my experience HVM will match your walking pace, make sure you are safe when walking (they volunteer to walk on the side closer to the road if there are cars around), and watch out for your wellbeing always. I used to date a guy who would get visibly upset when I wouldnt walk fast enough and he eventually would just walk at his own pace as a way to pressure me into walking faster, especiall…

A lot of people don't realize that a profession stays with you FOR LIFE. Yes, you may get fired due to a bad economy/restructuring, but that experience adds value to you in the job market and you can climb the opportunity and income ladder the longer you spend in a profession. Too many women are lured in by the success stories of" XZY Onlyfans E-Girl makes $$$/Monthly" and don't consider the fact that its a dangerous, unregulated industry with no benefits, no professional value, and most importa…

And of COURSE this guy thinks this has nothing to do with his "*morals* or *character*, it's just because of mY pOrN adDicTion. I want to comment on this post so badly and be like "have you considered the possibility that you are just an asshole"

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
