It’s pretty standard part of divorce to share your financial documents - and I have nothing to hide in my banking that I’m scared to share. I also don’t believe in doing anything shady to hide or squirrel money away.

Thanks for sharing. I’m in the same boat - I would definitely prefer to NOT see her ever again. But 2 things: I do think in the long run that it’s good for my daughter to have us both there and create some normalcy and have both our support. No one likes seeing their ex but it’s one of the things we have to swallow for the betterment of our kids. We obviously both share decision making for our daughter. Even if I proposed she not come, I feel like she would freak out and just come anyway - and t…

Same situation here man. After 2+ years of trying to get her help and so many disgusting situations she put our family in, I finally made the call to end it. For the betterment of me and (most importantly) our three year old daughter. The divorce isn’t final yet and it sucks to lose so much money and assets that I’ve worked hard for. But money can always be made and you can’t put a price on peace and wellbeing.

Thank you for offering your perspective. This was the first time I posted for help on this forum and I want you to know it’s really helping. And I appreciate you taking the time to write back.

Oh 100%. In this case though, she’s not just hurting me. She’s hurting my daughter and that’s not just something I’m comfortable letting go. Especially because when we started this divorce process, it was her who was insistent that we both speak positively of each other. So she’s breaking her own primary rule…

Can you elaborate on this? Are you saying to just not engage with her and to just be the best parent I can to my daughter?

You’re pretty much bang on in your assumption in her. Been 5+ years of hell being tied to her. We are in different homes now, but she’s coming after my house that I built with my own two hands and financed, and brought into the marriage. She’s entitled to her half, but still sickening that she’s going for every penny. She also dropped off our daughter this weekend sporting a massive black eye (my ex, not my daughter). God knows what she’s getting herself into to these days but im glad I’m not ti…

Thanks for sharing this perspective - this all helps. My natural instinct is to just be the best damn dad I can, and hope that balances out. But I have been and I feel my daughter slipping away and turning on me already. So just a little freaked out

I agree with most of this - but for our entire marriage with my ex wife I stood back and did nothing on so many of her issues. Now that she’s passing along this dark behavior to my daughter, I feel the strong need to note it to her and my lawyer as the first case and that id like it to stop. Nothing emotional, just a note that our daughter said this and I’ve noted it. I do not want to make a big deal out of this - as it is the first time and I agree kids say random things all the time. But I do …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
