Oh I definitely know better than to be on my phone or anything like that, and am always respectful when we attend church with the in-laws.

I didn't even think of reaching out to the preacher, that is a great idea! I am a bit scared of letting him down if we can't find something that fits both of us right away.

There are a couple local options that I am looking into. I know that he wants to stay in the Methodist faith so I am researching those. As far as views on privacy, he is a bit more open than I am, but he definitely understands where I am coming from.

Thanks! Pearls are my sorority's gem so I am particularly fond of them! I am definitely going to go in with a open mind, and if the ladies are half as nice and helpful as you ladies have been I think this could be really good for me.

I'll address your questions first: 1) He didn't attend frequently when we lived near his parents, about once every six weeks or so, and now since we have moved about eight hours away from his family, only once or twice a year when we are visiting his parents around Christmas. The only time he attended regularly is when he lived with his parents. 2) He is asking for me to attend regularly together, I have always attended with him when we have visited his family. Your insight has been extremely he…

I definitely didn't mean for my post to sound like I didn't like conservative Christian, and reading over my post I can see how it came across this way. It has been a tough couple of weeks dealing with FBIL as that wasn't the only incident (there were a few involving FH being yelled at for drinking a beer) and it has been hard watching FH realize that the relationship he had with his brother is gone. I may be taking some of this out on his religion, which I am realizing I shouldn't do. I need to…

In college. He lived in the dorm room directly above mine. He asked me out three times before I said yes, and it was the best decision of my life. We started dating in 2010, got engaged in 2013 and will be getting married in 2017!

This is one of the things I try to make a point to do. When he gets home in the evening I try to make sure that I have at least started dinner, and when I hear his truck pull up I make sure that I have the porch light turned on, and the door unlocked so he doesn't have to fumble for his keys. Once he is in the house I give him a kiss, take his lunch box, and listen to him tell me about his day while I finish up dinner.

My kitchen aid! It is probably the best thing I have ever bought. I bake as a way to de-stress and it has been an absolute dream to use. My old hand mixer would hurt my shoulder and was terrible at folding nuts or chocolate chips; the stand mixer takes all of the work out. Rocket launches: There is nothing better than that nervous/excited feeling I get carrying a rocket out to the launch rail, the blast of adrenaline I get when I see it lift off, or the huge sigh of relief when I see the parachu…

We are going to see deadpool! We aren't so much celebrating valentines day, but celebrating the end of my SO's first week at his new job, and (hopefully) successful full scale rocket launch for me.

The Good : Surviving my SO working nights for a week. I was honestly a bit surprised by how on edge I felt at night without him there. The best part of that week being over is that he started an amazing new job that he really seems to like, and it is looking like we will be able to put the deposit on our wedding venue a bit sooner than we thought. The Bad : I let my emotions get the best of me this week. I was lonely being away from my SO all week, and acted like a bit of a grouch when go off wo…

I guess to me it means taking my SO's thoughts and opinions in consideration in my actions. I realize how overly simplistic that could sound. I think about what he would want me to do when making decisions, like when a friend wanted to catch up by going out to a bar. I caught a lot of flack from her when I explained that I don't go to bars without my SO (at his request to ensure my safety), but that I would love to grab lunch. She couldn't understand why I would choose his wants over a "fun" nig…

I think I have learned a lot from this sub so far it is ok that I cannot control everything. It has been amazingly freeing to take a step back and let my SO run the show. He is absolutely amazing at it, and it has lifted a huge burden off of my shoulders. I really want to focus on making sure that I show him my gratitude for all the hard work he does for us. He just got offered a really amazing job that will change a lot for us.

A couple of years ago for Christmas my SO got me a dog charm for my charm bracelet. My father is severely allergic to animals so I was never able to have any sort of pet. The charm is a little silver Labrador ( the type of dog that I has always wanted) and said that since we couldn't get a dog yet, he got me the next best thing.

I met my SO's parents while meeting his mother's entire family (aunts, uncles, grandparents) It was his grandparents anniversary and we had only been dating six-ish weeks at that point. It was completely overwhelming, but it was really awesome to know that he felt that we would be getting serious.

Freshman year of college, we had an English class together, and then I discovered he lived in the dorm room above mine. He was a sophomore and still dating his high school girlfriend. About 2ish months later they broke up, and shortly after that we started dating. We are coming up on 5 years together at the end of this month. We are planning to tie the knot in about 2 years because he want me to finish school first.

Laura Bush. I have always thought that she seemed super supportive of her husband as well as being kind and graceful. Plus I love the program that she started encouraging reading for younger children

Aerospace engineer checking in, I am going to assume you are American, if not completely ignore this part. I would focus on getting your PE done. It will make it possible for you to work for consulting firms which might help with being able to take time off when you want to have kids or at least being able to work from home for a while. That is generally what my plan is, just hoping it works out.

Allreicpies.com has been super helpful to me when I was learning to cook. You can also search specifically for different types of food so if you are looking for Indian or Mexican you can set filters. On the making friends front, search the events section of your local newspaper online. A lot of times groups such as gardening and quilting will having their meeting times posted in them. They might be a good way to make more friends.

My fiance likes that I can be girly, but still jump on a four-wheeler with him to chase down cattle that have gotten loose. We are a hunting couple, right now I am exclusively a bow hunter and he has said it is the cutest thing in the world to see me decked out in my camo with a pink bow. He likes subtle makeup as well as skirts and dresses so I have been trying to add those to my wardrobe We are both engineers so he loves that I can make jokes involving engineering principles like when I burnt …

Shredded Buffalo Chicken is one of my favorites to make. If you like Zaxby's kickin' chicken it tastes exactly like it. Put four chicken breasts in a crock pot. Pour 3/4 of a bottle of buffalo wing sauce over it (I usually use Moore's brand because I love the kick that it has). Add half a packet of powdered ranch dressing to the chicken and cook on low for 6 hrs. Once it is done cooking shred it with two forks and serve on a bun (It would be good without one too, since you mentioned low-carb). M…

I really enjoy crocheting and baking, and I am starting to learn to sew. I have been crocheting since middle school but I been focusing a little more seriously lately, and I am currently working on an afghan that is going to be a wedding present for my FBIL and his fiancee.

If your veganism because of factory farms have you looked into buying meat from local farms that raise and process their own animals. It has been my experience that when buying from those type of places the treatment of the animals is a primary concern of the owners.

Does your man like these things? If so, don't worry about it and focus on being the best SO that you can be for him. EDIT: this was supposed to be a comment on the OP. Mobile is being flaky tonight.

I am 23, and met my SO when I was 18 and he was 19. He actually lived in the room directly above mine in my freshman dorm. My RA had actually warned the girls on my floor against dating the guys on the floor above because they were mostly sophomores. We ended up talking a bit in the halls, and one day he playfully stole my phone and put his number in it. I asked why I would need his number he said so I would know what number to use to confirm our date for later that week. After that first date I…
