Remember how boys used to get punished and humiliated in school for having slightly longer hair than 7cms ? These barbaric practices have lead to a 16yr old's suicide but who cares ? How open would you be to the idea of stoning as the means of capital punishment? I understand that, for many people in contemporary society, stoning strikes them as an awfully barbaric and primitive penal sanction. So how long should we shelter and feed 'despicable' people, whilst waiting for their 'redemption'? The fact that prisons are largely ineffective at preventing recidivism suggests that the system does little to 'correct', more to harden. Nobody deserves to be murdered by another human being.
