Anyone have experience using a guardian ad litem?I realized I didn’t answer your whole question. You could see if there’s a free legal aid clinics near you that could provide you with some advice on how to move forward. Florida sounds very different than my state. You could also look into your states statutes for custody, GALs, etc. Sometime the statutes will link to other statutes that could potentially be helpful. Honestly, you could take a look around YouTube and TikTok and see if anyone has posted anything that could help you find your ans… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/06/25 01:06 AM
Anyone have experience using a guardian ad litem?I’m not sure about Florida. It was family court, right? There are other options that family court on my state uses, like custody evaluations, brief focused assessments, etc. They do cost money. Having a child appointed to your child would not be a bad idea if the GAL did not conduct an investigation. I would want the court to be able to receive a non biased report that focuses mostly on the best interest of the children. I’m curious if Florida would use a court appointed special advocate, that’s… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/06/25 12:56 AM
Anyone have experience using a guardian ad litem?I am not sure about why it would be cut down. I’d take the GAL recommending you have parenting time during school days as a positive. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/06/25 12:51 AM
Anyone have experience using a guardian ad litem? Are the recommendations permanent or temporary? In my state, it’s likely that temporary recommendations could slow things down so the parents can comply with whatever recommendations are adopted by the court. If there are permanent recommendations, then I’d expect to still have your full trial day since it’s my understanding that each parent has a right to testify and argue their case. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/06/25 12:49 AM
Anyone have experience using a guardian ad litem?I’d look at documentation parents sent me, professional records like medical and therapy records, etc. In my state, joint custody is assumed unless there’s a good reason for one parent to have sole legal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/06/25 12:47 AM
Anyone have experience using a guardian ad litem?I’m a GAL and do not take the sides of either parent. I solely serve the best interest of the children. I look at the big picture, review a lot of docs, and provide the court with recommendations. It does not matter what gender the parent is, it matters what will do the least damage to the children. Big red flags if a parent opposes therapy or other services for the kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/05/25 01:23 AM
