My thoughts exactly. Conversation threading is more beneficial because it teaches you how to have a normal-sounding conversation. I have noticed though that I have unknowingly used what sounds like "Parroting" when asking for clarification on a topic I'm confused on. I think that's just normal though.

Why not? I've heard so many times it doesn't matter what you open with.

The bottom line is that there is no legitamate reason why you aren't allowed there. However, in order to cover your ass next time (should there be a next time), I would go in and buy a drink from a Starbucks or something. A very small one. Set it down on a table near where you're sarging and have that be your "command center," so to speak. Sit for 5 minutes and talk with your friend and take a sip of your drink. Then go and sarge. Come back however long later and start over again (take a sip, ch…

I was going to say this. You chose when you first opened and unfortunately it didn't work out. Sucks, but gotta move on.

If I read this right, it looks like she wasn't going to hang out with OP until OP said he "wasn't looking for anything serious". I'm a little confused by this. Could someone please explain why that might be?

This post resonated with me a little. I've been thinking about this lately. Not to the extent that I wish I had taken the "blue pill". But it's been brought up plenty of times on seddit how Hollywood conditions people to believe in fairy tales, love at first sight, etc (which is complete BS in reality). I was also one of those people who believed that until about a year ago. But I did come to the realization that I was actually much more unhappy when I had that mindset because what I believed wa…

I agree with the first part of this about the ingrained beliefs. I can't speak to the therapist part, but I'm sure that would help since it seems like a pretty big issue for OP.

snu183 touched on what nofap is about. There are many reasons, both physiologically and mentally. My reasons may or may not be unique. My mental attitude changes significantly. It gives me more motivation to approach since I know I don't have fapping to fall back on. It gives me more confidence when I approach. It helps me keep a outcome independence attitude. Those are just a few. Basically, I feel like a more complete version of myself. I hope that makes sense, but if it doesn't you can check …

These. I think #3 is especially relevant. I was in the same situation getting out of a LTR about a year ago (after a 4 year relationship) and I hardcore failed worse than OP at my first F-close due to anxiety. To fix this, I took a look into r/nofap and it helped me a lot. OP, you should look into it and see if that helps you. I F-closed about 2 weeks ago and 1 week ago with no problems. On a side note, FOR THE LOVE OF SCIENCE PLEASE WEAR A CONDOM FROM NOW ON.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
