I’m really sorry to hear this. This isn’t fair to you and the kids and nothing going forward from her will be fair either. I’d heavily browse this sub for advice. There’s multiple posts on how to move forward. You can’t trust her anymore and she’s no longer your partner, but your adversary. As others mentioned, don’t get in a fight with her, don’t argue, limit contact to written emails. Take 24hrs before responding on some cases to prevent you from sending something you may regret. Stay away fro…

Where do you live? You make it sound like you live in an intellect desert.

You’d be right in almost many other scenarios but according to the OP, this may not be the case for him if they are siding with her. Which will only make the aftermath that much tougher for him.

It’s a trap. She got caught and is now trying to save face. I’d be afraid that she’s trying to regroup and then catch you off guard again down the road. Maybe try and provoke you into an assault charge so she can get her 80/20 or full custody. I’m sorry man but I wouldn’t trust her.

I came here to say this but you beat me to it! And OP, I respect the fact of how much you prioritize your mental health. I agree with you 💯, no need to relive your trauma.

This angers me so much for you. What a selfish act to do this shit while you two are trying to sort this out. My only advice is to build yourself up and focus on you. I know that’s easy for us to say but time to bury that chapter and start a new one. Stay strong. You got this.

What do you plan to study? Are you going to work in the industry or teach? My wife has a PhD and works in tech. No comparison to a professors salary

This happened to my uncle about 25 years ago. My biological aunt left him for her partner who she is married to know. They have a pretty strong friendship. But my aunt’s partner was the one who had jealously issues early on. She was afraid my aunt would go back to him and tbh, my uncle tried his hardest to win her back. Now the three of em always celebrate birthdays and holidays together. Although I can’t imagine how tough that is as well. I wish you the best of luck.

Coming from a divorced household made my teenage years rough. I too feel very much compelled to not get married a second time. With that said, I’m thankful my mother did find someone and married my step dad. He’s been nothing but wonderful to my mother and quite frankly, I’m lucky enough to be able to call him dad as well. His love for my mother helps put my mind and my sister’s mind at ease knowing he’ll be there to take wonderful care of her. But I do realize how rare that is.

I’m sorry I don’t have any advice but this is the second post I’ve read where the men have to pay their ex’s lawyers. How does that happen? Why are you ordered to pay this? Was your ex a SAHM? I understand that if you don’t want to take time and answer this as I know you’re looking for answers, not looking to answer our unhelpful questions. I wish you the best of luck.

Long time lurker nearing my 40’s with two kids, a toddler and an infant. I could not imagine starting again with someone new. Hell, I can’t imagine a 3rd in my current situation. I don’t think the marriage would survive a 3rd child. With that said, I’ve find that the further you get from an infant, the more one tends to forget. Obviously, I have some bias with my thoughts, but it’s tough right now. And I’d imagine it would only be tougher in adding both a new partner and kiddo to coparenting wit…

As someone who recently found out his father had extramarital relationships with some men while married to my mother, it’s good for you to be honest with your kids. Especially since you fell in love and very well may fall in love with another man. My father is still in denial and actually has taken it a step further and is homophobic, despite himself being somewhat fluid. It was a surprise to my mother, my aunt, and others that he remarried a woman. I can only assume how much he may hate or be a…

Not divorced but I do have some opinions on the matter. Not to look for red flags but when they arise, give them some thought and don’t justify the red flags yourself. Ask yourself, how do I feel about this red flag and can older me deal with it. Understand that the apple does not fall far from the tree. How do the parents of the SO treat one another? Listen carefully to what the SO upbringing was like and then see if there’s any difference or so. People can hide who they are for quite some time…

Realistically, marriage counseling may be the next step for you two. Seems like there’s some lack of effective communication and marriage counseling may help open that up. Marriage counseling can help provide useful communication techniques and possibly an insight into who you and your spouse are to one another. Anecdotally, it’s helped me learn more about my wife and how she ticks in a deeper level. And the same goes for her. But considering you feel at an impasse idk how helpful marriage couns…
