Uh what do you mean? If I figure it's too high I just won't date him, no more no less.

The same thing applies because I would not ask a man flat out for his "number." I'd just figure it out myself. I just think it's impolite. Also, as I said before, the "number" is not a hard pass because it does depend on his character. So asking for the number, imo, would seem like I am judging him by the black and white perception of a number, instead of him as a whole.

Well, it feels tacky to me to directly ask about someone's past. You should find out of her own volition to share it when she feels comfortable. It's kind of like asking for an older person's age. You wouldn't just directly ask for the number, you would talk to them about their past experiences and surmise it yourself. I am sexually reserved and prefer to keep it serious. When I do have sex, it's a meaningful experience and I get attached easily. Therefore I dislike dating people who have a diff…

Most of society is still built to accommodate couples. You get social benefits from being a married person. You get emotional benefits from being in a long-term partnership. Even if one earns less money, having another working person in the household is still a net plus. If I was a rich successful woman, I would not care too much about a man's income as long as he was financially responsible.

Maybe if the woman is not serious about the man, sees him as a temporary thing, and gets scared off by the vulnerability. Whenever my boyfriend has cried in front of me, I always somehow took it more seriously than if a woman was crying. That's because it's physically more difficult for men to cry, so when he does, it's jarring and feels important. Whoever acts otherwise is an asshole...

I mean, being a nice guy is just the minimum standard. Ideally, women would also like a decent job, life skills (cooking, finances, driving, and cleaning), healthy (good diet and/or exercise), and minimal addictions (smoking, drinking, drugs, etc.) These latter things have nothing to do with being bland or douchey. I think that the "douche" probably has other redeeming qualities that the "nice guy" is missing.

I think this is a human problem. I've seen men only go for the hottest of girls, and then stay single forever because he doesn't want to settle. If more men than women decide to settle, that just means that women are more content staying single than men are.

I think you should find a woman you are very attracted to, who is financially conservative herself and understands the money you blow on her isn't representative of your wealth. Personally, as a woman who isn't in the upper 10% tier of attractiveness, I get immense pleasure from knowing that at least my man has the hots for me. In turn, I am really attracted to him just by knowing that he's attracted to me. Responsive desire like this is very common in other women too. It's another thing if her …

Guy A because Guy B does not sound reliable and might replace me at any time. It's also not great if I can't keep up with Guy B, and there would be too much of a difference when I am more simple and he is high-flying all the time. I like relaxing or staying in without being judged but also have my moments of fun. So Guy A would be better.

Height: Just a couple of inches taller than me, 5'5 to 5'7". Not too tall so we can do lots of sex positions, but tall enough for me to wear heels. Size: 5-6 inches. Race: Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, or other SEA. Status: Makes enough to support both of us if I lost my job. (But I will still work.) Personality: Gentle and sensitive with me, assertive enough to have a career. Introverted, logical, and likes knowledge/learning. Has hobbies or tries new interesting things. Mature, accountable, r…

I am attracted to men who are sensitive enough to make me feel safe around them. They need to be emotionally vulnerable and literate and kind. I would modify that to be more balanced. I want to be attracted to a wider variety of personalities. I wish I would choose guys who are more compatible with me in terms of sex, finances, and future plans/goals.

Would you be brutally honest with a female friend and tell her why she is not attractive? Would you tell her that her figure looks bad or something? Can you say that anyone in popular culture is honest with women about why they are not successful in relationships? Nope, society just is too polite for that. Why should men be the exception? I would be honest with a guy friend if we were really that close enough. Otherwise I am too polite.

Lost his ambitions as he got older... if I had my perfect package guy, that would not make me leave him. It would have to be something more drastic like quitting working, stopped being an equal partner, etc. It has to really oppose a value. I like guys with a mix of "in charge" and soft qualities. So in charge when it comes to life skills and ability, but soft in terms of emotional sensitivity. So... if a guy was emotionally over-accomodating, I would just tell him which areas he should stop bei…

One thing that puzzles me is why people used to meet people at work. Work relationships are messy. It's awkward. Being at the same workplace doesn't say anything about whether or not you have similar experiences and values. So why?

I don't think humanity would be doomed. I think straight relationships would look more like lesbian relationships. Statistically, lesbians have less frequency of sex, but longer sessions. Quality over quantity. Women DO like sex, but it just has to be good. So humanity would still be having babies, but because of people's more manageable sex drives, it would not control people. So people will make better decisions and only have babies when it makes sense. Overpopulation will just not be an issue…

I'm an average to cute woman, cute when I am put together (clothes, makeup, etc.) Average when I am dressed down. I attract down-to-earth, easy-going, laid back, kind, normal-ish guys. I'm attracted to guys who are emotionally intelligent and stimulating, who likes trying new things, and preferably guys with a large sex drive + like to experiment in the bedroom. I connect to guys who are a bit more intuitive and intense with their personalities... but eh. I guess I shouldn't complain too much.

So you're saying that in general, people shouldn't hit above their league or else they will end up single in the long run? I mean... makes sense.

I think it's had a massive shift. Because of so many options, people now have a rigid set of expectations that few fit into. So instead of judging people by their entirety, online daters start searching for a unicorn that doesn't exist, hoping that it does if they just keep on dating. I think OLD is more suitable for people who have certain needs from dating (LGBTQIA, religious, immigrants, etc) than the masses. When you have regular people who have an average amount of options, drastically incr…

It's pretty tragic about the online dating thing - I have seen so many men get swept up in defining themselves by online dating. I think men must keep in mind that online dating is not a good marker for how attractive they are. For one, most men on online dating swipe right on the majority of women. This leads women to be overwhelmed by likes and thus take matches less seriously. Doesn't matter how attractive you are. And then men get more desperate on OLD, and the cycle continues.

Ideally, I'd like something casual that can be 15min and extended if there's a spark. Like an affordable coffee date. The second date can be fancier if need be. Conversation topics - it'd be fun to talk about ideas, theories, books, etc. Whoever does the asking, or go dutch.

I am a bi woman... I am equally picky with both, maybe 10% will be attractive. On a dating site, I might swipe a few people for men and queer women. On a day-to-day basis, I notice mainly men because I am only attracted to masculine women. I am not into feminine girls, which are most girls I see. Hm... I would almost say that masc women are #1 for me, but that's more along the lines of just loving their nontrad "look" than actually saying objectively they are "better-looking" than men. So equall…

Yeah, but are you a doctor and athlete? I mean probably not. From what I've heard, the real damage comes from babies with alcohol exposure though.

With an older child at least you know what you're getting into! And you can pick a child that you bond well with. Who knows if you give birth naturally? They could have a ton of health issues and it'd be the same. That's not guaranteed either.

Biological clocks, there's no reason to pressure yourself into settling down if you haven't met the one. Imo a family unit starts with a healthy couple, not formed partially out of desperation or fear of being alone. If that's biokids are someone wants, sure, but it's not the only option out there.

Everyone should be more conservative with sex because of STDs and unwanted pregnancies. Most people should be waiting for way later to get married because you can make better life-changing decisions. A lot of people are shooting themselves in the foot by wanting bio kids, not fostering/other avenues. A lot of people's woes here come from their mental hangups and psychological issues, not their height, weight, income, etc. Happy people attract happy people. That being said, lawyers + prenups + po…

You know, I just want to say that men as a whole are cute, handsome, scruffy sources of heat. I like how most men are. And it makes it worth dating them, despite understanding them less. It's the reason why I come to this sub. Even though we don't all agree, hence debate, it's nice to at least talk honestly.

A lot of people could get better results by being more fit + put-together. Just like a job interview. I would say that there are very FEW, if any, men who are "completely hopeless" in appearance.

Yeah. I'm sorry you came across a user. Sounds manipulative AF. I hope you find a woman who is honestly good instead of being some Dark Triad opportunist.

It is important for many people esp since as a culture we highly value it. But I would say our culture values it too much and should be focusing on lessening loneliness in society. Married people have fewer social connections in life compared to single people. What will happen if their spouse dies or divorces them? There are fewer avenues to form community connections than before. Maybe with more harmony in society, even if you are not able to get sex or relationships you will be more positive. …

Well, men could pay more attention to look sharp. Styled hair, gym workout, good clothes, deodorant, good skincare, good shave. Little makeup? Why not. Even if they got plastic surgery or something. I mean, we should all work on inner beauty but I'm not judging anyone for focusing on their looks.

This, it's always helpful to move beyond the cliche beauty advice and learn to have inner beauty. This means being the type of person you would date + building depth to yourself.

No 30 is so young in the modern age. I think that if your life becomes too unbalanced because you are most likely going to die in the next five years... ok then you may give up. I don't think anyone should give up, they just should realize that they are failing and try a new approach. They need therapy, coaching, maybe a personal stylist and a life coach. Or just work on themselves haha.

Fewer people are entering relationships because it's just not as needed as it was in the past. Why is this a bad thing? Not everyone needs to produce and the economy can't just grow infinitely. Society could do with fewer people. It'll hurt in the short-term, but be better in the long-term. I think the lack of marriage prospects will positively affect women because everyone will realize that a relationship and marriage does not define them. And that as modern people, we can have other life goals…

If someone isn't ready for something, then they aren't ready for it. No negotiations and the better thing is to wait like a decent person. This is the basis of any healthy relationship. I don't care about losing out on "awesome guys," if he can't meet the base criteria of waiting until they are comfortable, then he's not awesome. They are entitled to "respect themselves" and have their own timeline, just find women who meet that timeline then. I need a guy who is sexually compatible with me, tha…
