Okay. I appreciate you honesty. We have people saying whatever they want sitting behind their computers and effecting peoples lives to the point where people are taking their own lives. So I am exercising my freedom of speech right now to say that is not right. Our constitution was implemented for moral people. The people that I am referring too, do not have morals. We can agree to disagree, that is what is great about this country.

I have to say you are literally the only person that actually had something constructive to say on this entire post, I appreciate that. Yeah your right it is really a gray area, and seems like a very tough case if someone even would take it on. I really like your idea of a Facebook page tho, or someway to keep track of people that are blatantly messing with peoples lives without any repercussions. Just blows my mind. I have screen shots of exactly everything that was said in the group about my b…

So you don’t think we should be held to higher standard on what we say? So bashing people, destroying reputations, and destroying lives is okay? Because it is an act of free speech? Your fine with that, correct?

I think the freedom of speech is amazing as well. But what I don’t like is when you have your reputation torn apart, and you can’t even defend yourself. Part of my first amendment right should be to be able to go into that group and defend my friends reputation. Instead it is private, and they can do whatever they want. Just because we have the privilege of something doesn’t mean that we can abuse it, and not be held to a higher standard.

Hey give it up man, I think you have made enough of an ass of yourself for at least one day. I have contacted a lawyer regarding this issue, and I am waiting until I hear back from him. I commented on here to see what other approaches individuals have taken with this issue if they have experienced it our not. If you really have that big of an issue with it then stop commenting on the post. Respectfully back off. I won’t respond to any more of your ignorant posts. Thank you sir.

That’s really funny actually. Coming from somebody that just tried giving me legal advice haha. I was educating you on simple information that you messed up, that you could have just googled and found yourself. I was nice to even put citations for you to find them on your own now.

I just found out about this today, and yes I am contacting a lawyer. Thanks for the great advice.

Blanket statements all day, you are very talented at that. You have no idea what they will and will not take on, because you don’t even know what was said about my buddy. Again stop with the blanket statements man.

That’s good for you man. But I’m not gunna just roll over and not try to find a solution to this problem.

I guess the question is what do you do then? Because having free reign to destroy peoples mental health and lives on a Facebook group is unacceptable to me. Especially when you aren’t even allowed to defend yourself on it.

“They would have to make statements like he raped me or killed someone to be defamation (and the rape one would still be really hard if he actually did have sex with that woman).”- toss2222 Hold up a second. I hope you don’t think that the statements have to be that extreme do you? If you do, you really need to do a little more research man. I have the Illinois definition below. I also pasted a long example of defamatory per se 5 types of statements. Please read at your own convenience. Could yo…

Hey guys. I didn’t read every comment, so maybe this has been brought up already. Has anyone taken this to a lawyer with the case of defamation? “Illinois defines defamation as a false statement of fact about the plaintiff “published,” which means shared with another person, that harms the plaintiff's reputation (i.e. lowers the plaintiff in the eyes of the community).” I know my buddy has had things on here that we’re not true, and it has made a severe impact on his life. Just because this is a…
