Thats what I’m talking about because that’s literally what the article for this thread contained? Maybe I’m being difficult, but I don’t get why that’s hard to understand. Are we not talking about the article?

I didn’t at all mean to suggest it was common, it is incredibly rare. I just meant in regards to the article where it says their pediatrician recommended a circumcision to help with the child’s phimosis. This situation is just complicated because it’s not an infant being cut it’s a 3 year old with and a condition and we don’t really know how bad it was. I wouldn’t have brought it up otherwise.

Do you work in this field of medicine? Because yea I completely agree circumcision is messed up when done for no reason, but there are multiple conditions (like phimosis) where circumcision is considered a viable treatment option for extreme situations affecting the foreskin. I don’t think we really know enough about this case to make a judgement call of whether the child’s situation was severe enough to warrant a circumcision.

This is a ridiculous circle jerk. There is no evidence. There is no evidence to support the original discrimination claim. There is no evidence to support or deny the response. The only thing that is verifiable is that this is illegal. So an actual case would be an important discussion, especially if the person involved was unable to get any recourse. Maybe if we had an actual verifiable case this thread wouldn’t be so stupid sounding.

So at which point in my comment am I being a “thought policeman”?

I remember being taught empathy, doesn’t really matter to me if someone asks me to use a different word I’ll try and switch. The moral of emperors new clothes is pride, not pressure from those in power. It seems pretty prideful to intentionally hurt others because you have to tell “the truth”. Just seems vindictive honestly.

My bad, you brought up victims taking personal responsibility I thought that’s what you were saying. He’s not her victim though, he is a victim of a court that took a hardline stance. I agree with that, he shouldn’t be a sex offender. But yes, I think he’s creepy and no his money doesn’t make him less creepy. You shouldn’t tell people to look the other way so you can kiss them without warning, and people don’t just casually kiss people like that. I wouldn’t be ok with any of my friends casually …

So how would you tell this victim to protect herself? Guy points to some wasps and kisses her shoulder and head, is she supposed to read his mind and know he’s taking that as his opening? This isn’t some dark alley or a risky situation, it’s a couple of friends in relationships and one made a creepy move trying to start an affair. I don’t think he should be labeled a sex offender, but I don’t see how you’re blaming her for the situation when he creepily misdirected her attention to lay a couple …

I'm not a legal expert, but I think the problem is conflating legal response with a social response. You are innocent until proven guilty "in a court of law" not so much in society itself. It can be a really grey area because you have to walk the fine line between protecting the rights of the accused as well as the rights of individuals and/or private groups. Like say I own a business and one of my employees is accused of a serious crime. I would have to weigh the risks to my business of becomin…

I mean really what they're trying to do is just find out why women are doing better on the test while men are doing better in the classroom and they seem to have just completely over simplified the issue to the detriment of the students. They're saying because girls are testing better in this setting then classroom tests should be done similarly instead of looking at both issues and finding real solutions: women underperforming in the classroom and men underperforming on the test. It just looks …

"I mentioned the girl sitting may have a disability as well" Fuck off with your nonsense, I stand by what I said and that they should have talked it out without posting on the internet where you guys have to pick sides and meme a 60 year old woman who recently had knee replacement surgery

She's leaning against the pole in the picture, and I mentioned that the girl sitting may have a disability as well. So I'm not really sure why you're being a jerk unless you have trouble reading, if you need help with that or perhaps require glasses I could recommend some resources for you, but perhaps some anger management classes might be better.

Benefit of the doubt, but we have no idea how old this woman is or what kind of assistance she might require sitting. The disability seat is located near the doors with hand rails to provide support and ease of access. Sure she could have sat in the empty seat, but if she has back or knee issues even if she has a cane it might be easier for her to brace herself against the bar than attempt to sit and stand quickly enough before the train moves without falling. The polite thing to do would have b…

I am aware and I think it is wrong, which is why I support this sub because I think part of the problem is many women are a bit unaware of legislation that groups like NOW have opposed and blindly back groups because "feminism". I just disagree with many of the blanket generalizations because beginning a discussion with antagonism isn't helpful to creating awareness and detracts from valid points. People tend to just ignore important issues when they feel personally attacked, but putting things …

I consider myself a feminist, but I completely support a more balanced response in divorce on pretty much every level. Men should be seen as equals when it comes to parenting, and there are very few scenarios where I agree with alimony and supporting a spouse's "lifestyle". Not all feminists are like the loud and obnoxious crowd, and most women I know agree with changing the way this has been done in the past.
