Depending on what it's responding to it could be. Every programmer I met jokes about copypasting from stackoverflow, and it's pretty much never responded to like the guy in the pic, so if the post was a joke like that the response would seem really out of place and I think misoginy would be one of the most likely causes. e: checked the original post and it really seems like this is the case

Or because there's some subtle biases taking part in the process of deciding how much they make, kind of an extension of the effect shown here. Not saying this would account for everything but If women truly got paid 77% of men, for the same work, then all companies would hire women only and save a shit ton of money. this assumes a perfect assessment that any HR department can only dream of.
