It's not a "pretty" condition. I've shared it before, and got some crazy responses that were pretty hurtful. Now I just don't. I feel like there's value in sharing my story, my son's story, but in that same breath, terrible people will read it too, and I try to avoid giving them ammo used to be hurtful.

Maybe it depends on where you are and who you know? I know plenty of couples in traditional relationships and none of them are unequally yoked as you describe. Filing doesn't necessarily MEAN anything, though, it doesn't determine who "left." I'm ex military, I can't tell you how many times I've seen a person have to try and chase down an absent spouse so they can get legally divorced. They were they ones who got left, yet they HAD to file, because the party who left, didn't. It's incredibly common in civilian relationships too. Where did you get those numbers? I've found statistical data that supports a roughly 50/50 chance, if the father fights for custody, though of course it varies by state, hence why I said roughly. I've never seen 91% when looking at gender specific data for who wins when there is an actual custody fight, so I'd be really interested in reading your source material.

Or that's just your perception of the world? I live in the Southern U.S. and I only see stuff like this online. I guess I'm just lucky enough to have normal, well adjusted people around me. My friend got full custody too, and didn’t even have to provide evidence because she didn’t show for the court dates after she went to one and realized she could actually lose. I’ve seen too many not put up a fight at all, then complain endlessly about their circumstances. If a person doesn’t even try, that’s on their shoulders, no one else’s.

I think it’s to prevent the sponsor from using it to threaten and control the sponsored. Like what happened with Mengqi Ji, as it’s unfortunately a common occurrence, though it doesn’t usually end how it did for her. There's real feminism, then there's toxic feminism. Unfortunately the toxic kind seems to be way more prevalent these days. This is definitely the latter.
